    TGIF TGIF TGIF!

    That is all.

    For now!

     I AM SO PISSED.

The gardeners for my condo place were just here, and while I was in the bathroom I heard a giant crash, as if someone had broken several glasses. First thing I thought was the china cabinet - what if one of the shelves broke? Nope, it was fine. Then I go back to my computer, and lo and behold, there is glass ALL over the floor. But from what? I look and look and look and then realize... the WINDOW.

The freaking gardeners obviously kicked up a rock with their mower, which totally shattered my window. But do the gardeners come and say anything? Nooooooooo.

I called my landlady, took some pictures, and then went outside to confront them, but they were already gone. I REALLY hope they'll just admit it and let their insurance take care of the repairs, rather than denying they were responsible.

I'm taking the GREs tomorrow and am totally stressed out already, and I did NOT want to deal with this today!!!!

Plus our stupid plumber hasn't called us back in 48 hours, and he was supposed to come fix something yesterday!

Soooooo much house-related stress for something we don't even own! Gahhh!

(If anyone has any tips for picking up glass shards, btw....)

LOL!  Short, sweet and directly to the point Amanda!

Much as I appreciate the cooler weather that comes with the clouds and occassional downpours, I'm really about done.  The humidity is staying high.  I've taken to leaving my crocs right by the front door so that I can slip them on before I step onto the porch mornings for a smoke.  Mornings the porch is good and wet from the humidity, and being as it's slate it's slippery as heck.  Being as it's slate, it's also good and hard should I slip and crack my head on it.  I'm not exactly world renowned for my gracefulness!  Plus the dreary weather makes me feel like a slug.  Don't WANNA do anything.

My niece had a severe ingrown toenail.  Majorly painful.  She went to a podiatrist who did the basic quick surgery and less than 24 hours was in the ER with a high fever, severe pain, very swollen foot and vomiting and diaherra.  Seeings as her DH had to call a neighbor at 6AM to come stay with the kids, and he had to take the day off to take care of her and tend to the kids, Sis and BIL left last evening to lend a hand.  However,it concerns me that they left at 7:30 at night for a 3 plus hour drive.  They don't do things impulsively, like we do,and come sunset, they like to be tucked in at home, so there might be more that she didn't tell Mom.  I'm worried.  Would appreciate good vibes and prayers for Jen........

Much to do today so off to scounge up the motivation to do it.....

Glass shards on carpet?  Tough -- but after you vacuum change the bag because the glass can pierce the bag.  You'll have to wear TOUGH gloves and move the fibers on the carpet to get it to pick up more because they stick.

On a hard surface it's easier.  DAMP PAPER TOWEL.  Just be **super** careful because shards can come up thru when you 'turn' or circle it.  But even after you're *sure* you got it all -- go over it again with one more damp paper towel.

    That is all.

    I'm with ya' girl !!!

Courtney:  good luck on you tests tomorrow and make sure you get all that glass up !!

Speaking of which -- I must have stepped on something because I have something lodged in the bottom of my foot and even with my crocs, which are pretty cushioney, it's killing me.    Mr. W is going to a football game tomorrow and I can't wait to do some power napping with Jamison and spending some serious couch time with my book.  I'm reading Conroy's "South of Broad" which is good but not great like "Beach Music" or "Prince of Tides".

Not much excitement here.  The sick boss is back today, still sick though.  Other boss is also here, which I wish I'd known he was coming - I am dressed in my Friday best - t-shirt and Levis barely held together by thread in some areas.  I'm sure the unemployment mediator who also came is was impressed.  The mediator was only supposed to call in, not show up.

Tomorrow is the local university's first home football game.  That means the drinking starts tonight and traffic will be worse than usual tomorrow.  I'm just glad I don't live right in the middle of party central anymore.

Then on Sunday our rescue is having its annual benefit walk.  I walked with Bear the last two years and fundraised, but did not this year.  I will likely take Agnes for a bit, but she won't be able to walk all the way, so am taking Bear's old crate and her blankies so she can rest.

Good luck Courtney!  And yeah, TGIF!!

     Thanks, everyone!

Tina, do you have a wagon for Agnes? You could pull a Kee-shu and fery her around like a princess... :)

Glass is mostly out of the carpet, and since our landlord is out of town I called her real estate agent (who said to call if we ever needed anything) who is helping me go through the proper channels (property management company etc.). Since we only rent, I have no idea who the landscaping company or the property management company or anybody is. Glad the realtor is really nice.

Glenda, I hope things are okay with your niece. That sounds really scary. But emotions are always high when it's a kid, so her parents might be feeling the emergency as more dire than it actually is. Just because they're worried doesn't necessarily mean that it's something serious. Sending them good thoughts for a quick recovery.

Deb, hope your foot feels better soon!

As everyone knows, I am a complete ignoramus so can someone tell me what a GRE is ??

    Deb W.

    • Gold Top Dog

It's like the SATs, only for graduate school :) Similar to the MCATs (med school) or LSATs (law school) or GMATs (business school) etc. etc. etc.

Big pain in the butt! How is knowing the angle properties of a quadrilateral going to help me be a better psychologist? Sigh. Confused

Good luck on your GRE's tomorrow, Courtney.  Use a damp sponge to get the tiny glass shards.  I have a hand held vac that comes in handy too.

Deb, I hope you get out whatever is in your foot.  Nap and book reading sound like a great day. :)

Tina and Agnes have fun on the walk.  Auntie Jackie sends scritches to all her favorite spots.

I'm taking the pup to the Vet this morning.  I've had two responses to my craigslist notice.  I didn't put much info in the ad because I don't want people trying to claim her because of her breed. That has happened to me before and it's a PITA to get rid of some people. One was a guy looking for his pug puppy. :(  He said he knew it was a long shot because of the location but he was desperate.  So sad.  The other was a guy ranting at me because I didn't put the breed or a description in my notice.  I ignored that one.  The pup met all the guys this morning when they came in for their paychecks.  She made some new friends.  She also loves Ruger, my coworkers Weim.  She scoots across the tile with her head on the floor and her butt in the air trying to get him to play with her.  He thinks she's nuts. lol  It's hard for me to imagine that this goofy looking puppy will turn into a regal GSD.  She may not be pure bred but she looks like the GSD puppies I've seen.

Glenda, please don't slip and crack your head open!  You need some all terrain shoes that grip the road like those tire commercials. lol

    Callie, thinking of you today.

I'm having lunch with a few friends tomorrow for one's birthday.  She's turning 45 and is in the middle of a tough divorce.  She is super stressed and didn't want to go to lunch.  She was persuaded when I mentioned a certain Italian restaraunt we all like. :)  It's semi fancy but they serve the most delicious s'mores for dessert.  You should see the white tablecloths when a family with kids orders these. lol She's lost a ton of weight from the stress so she can pig out with no guilt.  I'd say she's lucky but I'd rather have my extra pounds than her life right now.

ETA: I knew I was forgetting something important.  Praying that your niece, Jen, is ok, Glenda.
