NSBMS has some crazy stuff go on though! I think it's because it's such a small town, the kids get bored LOL.

This is true!  By highschool, a good portion are off surfing during the day, another portion are doing drugs, and then another portion drop out and end up at DBCC, aka "Harvard by the Halifax"!

I forgot to say "YAY for Agnes!" - glad she's feeling better each day.

Big Cat Diary is soooo beautiful.  Cheetahs, Lions, and even elephants... *sigh*, I would love to go to Africa....  HEY!  I feel like resurrecting the Africam thread!!

I think it is also hard because the girl that died was 5 weeks old and the two year old sister who has the same disorder/problems is still alive.  So just when they were thinking they have her life and health under control, the baby dies which proves how vulnerable the surviving child still is and always will be.  You want to think that because the child is 2 years old and living at home, she is in the clear, but pneumonia or a simple infection could kill this child.  And now that they are learning more about this mutation, they will have to decide whether to try for more kids and take that risk...

I'm glad you clarified that -- I didn't realize there were *two* girls -- I didn't read carefully enough.  Oh my stars.  That poor family.  so much pain

Yep, sorry, there are two.  The one that died was 5 weeks old and the surviving one is 2 years old.  They also had two boys before the girls were born, the boys are both fine (no reason to suspect any genetic problems).

Wow, I'm so sad for the family of the little girls.  I'm definitely sending some good thoughts their way.

Agnes, you go girl!  I'm so happy that you're feeling well enough to go for walkies.  I know that makes your mom & ALL of your Aunties so proud of you.

Brinxx, you are a very special girl.  Your boy is very lucky to have you watching his butt so to speak.  I'm thrilled to hear that the vet didn't find anything worrying in any of Bru's tests.  It could just have been a delayed reaction to all the excitement a few days earlier.  Either way, I'm just glad that he seems to be back to his bouncie bean self.  Great visual on that, Amanda.

*grabbing all the dogs & ducking in the basement*  We're all allergic to spattering sh&t. :)

What a decent day I had so far.  I decided to try & look for a dress for the dog walk kick off party/movie AND look for a bow tie for the Peanut.  I found a dress that met all requirements 1) it fit; 2) It doesn't look like a moo moo; 3) the colors are fallish; 4) I found it at a consignment store & it was in the clearance area.  Yay me!  Now to find Aspens bow tie.  Do ya think there'd be any at any of the thrift stores or box stores that I look in?  Nope!  In my searching I stumbled on a sight that made me gasp!  TUESDAY MORNING!!!!!!!  That store rocks!  I didn't find a bow tie for Aspen but I did find a shirt that looks like a tuxedo.  He'll look adorable in it.

Deb, sweetie, are you out there?  I haven't seen you on CNN yet...

Paige, Chyna is the other boxer.  Brinxx is the mutt.  No worries though, most days I call them the wrong names too!

I took Brutus back to the vet earlier.  He's droopy again, & he vomitted.  They convinced me to let them do an ultrasound of his abdomen on their new ultrasound machine.  The vet found a "spot" on his spleen, & recommended that I have his spleen removed because "it's most likely cancer."  I decided to take the pics to my surgeon friend to get her opinion before I made any drastic decisions.  I'm so glad that I did.  She sees the "spot" but she said that the pics look like crap & are incredibly fuzzy & distorted.  She redid the ultrasound, & she sees nothing except a ton of gas in his intestines.  She put him on a coating soothing agent for his belly.  I am going to change his food & we are going to see how he does.

I also called my vet to fill them in on the second opinion (who they refer to regularly), & to let them know that they would be refunding my $210 for the ultrasound.  They didn't argue, & the vet apologized profusely for worrying me.  Apparently, that was his first time to use the new machine, & he's "still learning how to use it."  I bluntly told him that my dogs are not guinea pigs, & if something like that ever happens again, I will be taking my business elsewhere, as well as filing a complaint with our state veterinary board.

Yeeks. You'd think, if it were his first time using the machine and he saw something odd, that he might... you know... redo the ultrasound. Instead of jumping straight to a surgery rec.

Glad for the better diagnosis, at least. Poor dude's probably still a bit residually stressed, that can wreak havoc on the digestion. Hope he feels better soon!

    • Gold Top Dog

Sheesh, pretty big mistake to make!  I'm not an expert in reading ultrasounds by any means, but get some training, dude, before you scare the crap out of your clients.  Glad you have enough sense to get a second opinion, Amanda.

Annie, that rocks - your deal on your dress!  You must post a pic of you and Aspen together.  You'll make a handsome couple, what with him in his tux shirt!

Oh, duh!  Color me embarrassed!  I still appreciate the dogs, regardless of breed. lol  OYE on the vet mistake, though...  Like you needed extra things to worry about.

Dr. Phil is talking about Michael Vick & the dogs, live in Philly right now...

    • Gold Top Dog

Amanda, that stinks about the crummy diagnostic from your Vet but it sounds like he was honest about his mistake (once it was pointed out!) and hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.  I'm so glad Brut didn't go thru surgery for no reason and I hope he's feeling better soon.

Annie!  I can't wait for the pic's of Aspen in his tux shirt!  Good move on finding the right dress for the right price.

I'm ready to go home and go to sleep.  I don't know why I can't get enough sleep lately.Sleep

zowie what a full day Indifferent

as for the crockpot capers the smell makes B insane - he has never stolen food but if he did it would be from the crockpot.  He circles the island over and over - drives me nuts.  But so far has never breached secure zone LOL

I was planning on going out with DH to eat but now he won't be home until late - since we both started our day at an early hour I voted to just stay in.  I am not going to make it until 8pm-ish for dinner

B is throwing all attention seeking behavior he has in his repertoire at me  - guess I need to do a little something with him to settle him down

    see y'all later

I think I'm getting sick. I have a sore throat.  I've had four honey lemon teas today though, and a green tea and a peppermint tea.  They help my throat.

I'm also irritated at my parents.  I NEVER ask them to look after the dogs, I know they don't particularily like to, but I needed them to this weekend. I really wanted to go to a bird show that FH is judging, it's a big one (for our area) and I would like to be there to support him.  They refuse to look after the dogs though.  It's really not so much about the dogs....it's just I never ask them for help, the one time I do, they say no.  Then my father had the audacity to make some comment about how I didn't talk to him all summer (I didn't talk to him because he did an incredibly rude thing to me, FH and FH's parents - I told him I wouldn't be speaking to him until he apologized, he never did, finally for my mother's sake I started talking to him again a couple weeks ago)  My parents seem to have this problem with apologizing, they never do it, or my mother might, but clearly doesn't mean it.

At least FH's parents are always there to help if we need it and my parents wonder why we spend more time with them.  Gee.

Does anyone want an eleven year old?  Mine is driving me crazy. (crazier?)  He has been in school for less than a month, & he's going to in school suspension yet again.  I'm seriously considering boarding school....

    • Gold Top Dog
ME ME ME! Send him to me. I am MEAN, when I have to be.

Or you could always take me up on that tutor/nanny/housekeeper/dogwalker thing. I am pretty sick of BF so I'm ready to head to Texas with the Pi-man...

I feel like it's been Wednesday for about three days now!

I think I sprained my jaw while I was eating lunch today. Confused The left side of my jaw started popping, and got really sore. I had to chew really slowly. It's still really sore, and I have to be careful, especially when yawning. What the heck?

For the last four nights, I have been sleeping so well. Why? DH has been sleeping on the couch! We haven't been fighting or anything, he just wanted to try it out I guess. He snores, and when it wakes me up I have a really hard time falling back asleep. Even with ear plugs (which make my ears sore and itchy) sometimes it takes hours. Plus he likes having the fan on high. And I have achy preggo hips which make me have to roll over frequently. I always thought it was sad that my grandparents slept in different rooms, but now I understand! It's probably not a forever thing, but at least we're both getting some good, solid sleep. Oh and Rupert has LOVED having a WHOLE side of the bed to himself. LOL.

    • Gold Top Dog

Stacer, I sympathize with you on family members who can't apologize.  Drives me nuts.

Janice, my two tiny girls can take up a whole half a queen bed, how is that?  I'm glad you're catching up on your sleep.

Today dragged for me.  I had a training class.  A boring training class. Wahhhhh!

    • Gold Top Dog

Meg since you need a change of scenery, how about you come to Texas & I'll go to Florida??  After discussing it with both DS & DH, I have came to realize that the teacher is partially responsible for this fiasco.  DS made a bad decision, but if the teacher had been following the rules, it wouldn't have happened.

Jan, I read an article on couples sleeping seperately, over the weekend.  It was interesting.  It talked about how many couples sleep in seperate rooms, & how much happier they are as a couple because of it.  DH was in a pissy mood this past weekend, so I had him read the article & then I told him that he was sleeping in the guest room.  He wasn't nearly as impressed by it as I was...
