    Er...'Girl Dog' Britches? (meg)

Tiki's becoming increasingly incontinent, from her heart medicine - I got her a cute pair of britches, from the store, but I'm liking the stuff I'm seeing online better. Can you guys recommend anyone in particular? Most of the cute ones I've seen have been from pretty small operations, and I don't like to order from places like that unless I can be sure they are legit.

Tiki thanks you in advance, since she is not thrilled with the ruffles, so far ;)

Sighthound Specialties. Inexpensive, made to her measurements, last forever. She makes great t shirts, tooBig Smile

Our mill mommies get baby dipers and cut a hole for the tail. We've gotten some by simple solutions that were donated - worked the same, and were washable.

The realistic problem is you have to wash them ALL THE TIME.  So the bitches britches that have plastic inserts get brittle (and cut them) VERY fast.  You have to have 3-5 pairs of them just to only have to wash them daily. (at least after a while)

Try little boys undies (er, tighty whities??) -- just turn them upside down so her tail goes thru the placket.  So you can get them in colors.  But you can go broke buying them at $15 to $25 a pop and then have to wash them to death.

They're made for a very minor flow -- so they really aren't made to handle absorption.  I used to wonder why Socks picked at hers until I figured out that the plastic insert was cutting her.  Then I cut it out of ALL the pairs I had.  I think she had six pairs all told.

Yeah, I don't buy the ones with plastic in them. I know that girl parts need to BREATHE! LOL! The Simple Solutions ones ($20 a pop) don't have plastic, and are fairly nice. The ones from the lady I mentioned, don't have plastic, and are half or less the price. I haven't had to wash them super often, buuut my dogs are smaller, and a thick pad absorbs it all.

Callie, the pink pair (**GROAN** sez David, lol) I got at the store had some plastic liner junk in it, and I cut it straight out! It makes the Depends pad stick better, since it's sticking to fabric.

You know you have COMPLETELY lost your mind when you fight the oldies in the Wally World aisles, squishing all the adult absorbency products feeling which would be the right width for your dog's panties! ROFL.

We used these when Schatzi came into heat.

You could also just buy boys undies & put pads inside them.  Put them on her backwards & you've got a ready made tail hole.

David used to crack up because the girl at Walgreens used to say to him "ahh - I remember, these are for your DOG right??" LOL

But yeah -- you just become WAY too much the expert at what brand is best, most absorbent, etc. etc. etc. -- and pouring over the First Aid Tape -- oy vay!!

Pink?  You've got that right -- David will cringe visibly.

I just used pantiliners in Gypsy's panties when she was in season.  Try Fidogear.

I use Seasonals for Cleo...I use my own maxi pads (with WINGS!) for her. Her outflow during a season is probably as much as the urine your wee doggy would produce. I can change the pads as often as necessary, and she stays dry and comfy. Very easy to put on and washable.

I don't have anything helpful, but did have this visual about sending out the s/o to get some Kotex for the dog, because we all know how excited our guys are to go to the store for us!

Honey, can you go to the store and get some pads?

S/O: you haven't needed those in 5 years

Yes, dear, I know.  They're for Fluffy.  Could you pleeeaase go, I'm a little busy right now and I can't go.  She reeeaalllly needs them.  Please honey?

How much eye rolling would be involved?  Confused  And what would the "cover purchase" be?

Hey guys -- David has FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE of this.  I used to send him to Walgreens ALL the time for Socks's "Depends" -- soooooo let's do a poll -- which would be WORSE??  Sending your fella for "ladies supplies" (that's always good for a groaner) OR "continence pads" -- especially when the fella in question is only about 24 or so???

Folks you gotta know Megan's fella -- I'm cracking up here.  Bry is just ... er .... NOT the dissembling type to be comfortable carrying off such a purchase -- now MY husband on the other paw??  He'd look thru those imperious, scraggly, red, Scottish eyebrows, STARE down the person at the till and dare them to laugh with a look!!  And he WOULD go buy them ... at midnight even LOL (and has before).  And when you're in your 50's it's not a given that you aren't buying them for personal use.  At Bry and Meg's age?  They'd think they were shopping for Gramma and Grampa!!

*excuse me whilst I howl laughing*

And honestly -- fwiw?  "feminine hygiene pads" aren't nearly absorbent enough for pee.  (I'm cleaning up after an incontinent peke -- and I don't DARE put britches on her because she runs a UTI so easy).  Trust me -- even a 9 pound peke can completely saturate WADS of paper towels.  And Tiki is darned near what, Megan ... 20 pounds or so?  She kinda dwarfs Pirate.

Feminine pads just don't absorb "fast enough" -- I guess that's a better description.  If they are just "leaking" that's one thing, but if the bladder lets go because the muscles are weak (which happens with Lasix) the pads got to suck it up fast enough or it will just roll off onto the carpet, couch or whatever.

and btw ... Megan?  David says you ARE a sexist.  Pink, indeed!!  Whatever happened to equality?  Why not get her blue ... or maybe she's a hippie dog in disguise and would prefer denim?? (that's not a quote ... but it's ... [snicker] .... close)

     TIE DYE!

Because the denim ones were UGLY, lol! Same with little boys panties - probably not any good colors ;) I'm going to compare Bevo's lady, and Jennie's lady, and see who has prettier fabric choices.
