M/C Thursday

    M/C Thursday

Not much excitement here.  I remembered my deodorant and my shoes match today.  And my socks go with the shoes - white sneakers, white socks.  Almost a no-brainer!

Had several dreams over the last few days about my ex-husband, my current b/f, and dogs from the shelter.  Only thing I can think of is because our shelter is full and there are several of the dogs on Dogs In Danger that may be euthanized today.  One of the workers asked me on Sunday to foster a pittie that has been there a while, but she is not good with cats and my resident cats have to come first.  I still can't figure out why the men were in my dreams, though.

I suppose I ought to work now.  I really need to take a day off...

Not much happening here either.  I have a few quick errands to take care of this morning, and also have to pick up the dogs chicken necks later in the day.

Got the car registered yesterday.  $218.45.  Ouch.  Will do the RV next week.  I got a VIN verification card for that and need to call the sherrif and have them send someone out to check it out.  There is no way I'm gonna try to get that beast into a small courthouse area.  I have no problem driving it cross country, but we're talking small town here and OLD small town so the streets aren't huge and that thing needs room to be manuveered.  I don't think that I've ever lived someplace that does the VIN verification, but, oh well.  Will have to go down with DS either today or tomorrow.....hopefully since he likes to put everything off.....to get his truck done as well.  My name is on the title so I'll need to be there as well.  Next....drivers licenses for all.  Hey, when I get legal, I get real legal!

What I'd LIKE to do is curl up and doze the day away.  Horribly humid this morning and I'm just sleepy feeling today.

A friend sent me a video of a pug who says " I love you".  Cutest thing you ever saw and I'd post it but I can't figure out how to post wmv's here.  It was a clip from Montel Williams (?) show.  If anyone knows how to post it, I'll forward to your email.

I'm on hold to Carrier.  Have I ever told you how much I hate being on hold?  Not that I've ever met anyone who likes to be on hold but I make so many phone calls for work that I feel like I spend half my day listening to some recorded voice tell my how much they value my business. Yeah, right.

Ruger, the Weim who comes to work with his doggy Dad, has horrible gas and he keeps coming and laying under MY desk.  I love you Ru but go lay near your Dad, please.

One of my nieces (my favorite but don't tell the others) is in town.  She lives in Illinois now after she got out of the Navy.  She's here with her bf and her ADORABLE three year old daughter.  They are coming over for dinner tonight so I'm hoping to get out of the office early.  They spent yesterday at Schlitterbahn (big water park near here) and are probably sunburned and tired.  I'm so excited to see them.  She's going to school to be a teacher and will be a good one.

Well, I got my call through finally.  They asked who I was holding for.  ANYONE, you fool.  A human voice in the wilderness of recordings would be like rain in the desert.

Glenda, there isn't any way I'd drive an RV in a crowded area.  People would be running for their lives when they saw my terrified face and white knuckle grip on the wheel.

Tina, good job getting dressed and deodorized.  I never thought we'd have to be patting you on the back for that but well, you are getting up there in age. LOL  **running away before she catches me**

Jackie, the RV isn't bad to drive, but, it's got a massive turn radius and I just flat don't want to have to drive on streets that are little more than one lane with parking on both sides......I could get IN the VIN verification spot without any problem, but getting out would set my nerves completely on edge.  And I, who do not sweat in the underarm area would be needed to snag Tina's deodorant!

ROFLMBO!  Good one, Jackie!  I set myself up for that, didn't I?Devil

That's okay - I can laugh at myself.  Lord knows there have been many other laughing at me over the years.  Someday we'll have to sit down, have a beer, and I'll share my stories.  I'd like to think I'm in a better place today.  Dorky, but mostly better.Stick out tongue

LOL, I'd be the exact same way. We talked about buying an RV and I had nightmares about having to drive or park it. It wouldn't be pretty.

Slept well last night after Sassy shifted and gave me some leg room. I think it's funny how indignant she gets when I come to bed and she has to move over and give me a few inches of space.

DH left for work this morning and I've already stripped the bed and got a load of wash going. I don't have much to do though, so I think I'll do some shopping. I want to go to Home Goods and see if I can find a large mirror for behind our dining room table. If I find anything, I'll pay for it and have them hold it. Even if I could carry it myself, it wouldn't fit in my car. DH would have to pick it up when he's off.

We've had a break in our heat wave and it should be beautiful for the next few days. This has really been a great summer.

Oh Tina, I'd love nothing better than to sip beer and swap stories with you!   You KNOW I would never tease you unless I was sure you knew I was teasing.  I can't tell you how many funny stories I could tell on myself. I can't tell you because I have CRS and that's not always a bad thing. Wink

Way to go, Tina, Way to go!!!!  (Remembering deodorant is a BIG deal!)

A client sent me a thank you gift today.  That, in itself isn't abnormal, but I feel like this "thank you" is quite excessive.  I'm not sure how to deal with this, because I don't want to offend the client, but I don't feel right taking the gift.  I'm having lunch with a co-worker today to see what she thinks.

Send it to me, Amanda. LOL I rarely get any thank you gifts and they are never excessive.  Seriously, I wouldn't worry about the gift being excessive.  It's their decision and if they think you deserve it, accept graciously and enjoy.

Geez, Jackie, first you want people to send you checks.  Then you want a trophy for all your hard work.  And now you want gifts, too.  What's next?  The moon?Sleep  Here's your gift!  Gift  LOL!

Amanda, I guess acceptance or not would depend upon if you think there was a hidden meaning in the gift.

ROFL!  Geez woman, do you have to throw all my foibles in my face?!  LOL  Thanks for the gift, I use Secret but this Old Spice will be nice next time I go to a football game.

OK, I'm curious - how excessive is the thank you gift?  My old boss in Tucson used to send pretty extravagant gifts, but that's because his clients were all millionaires so he had to impress them.  He had to be talked out of sending the same level of thank-you's to the neighbors who suffered thru our construction, etc.

Tina, I think it has nothing to do with age - things distract me all the time.  (like this forum. lol)  Anyway, if you want to share details of your dream, I could try to interpret it for you.  usually, when people show up in dreams, it's often about some aspect of that person that you relate to in your own personality, or they remind you of someone else you know - a trait that you draw a similarity btwn the two people.  Alternatively, it can be about the circumstances or feelings those people bring out in you.  (ie, ex husband makes me feel "angry" or "sentimental" or whatever)  Depends on what was happening in the dream.  Any colors or buildings or environments stand out?

I'm cleaning the keyboard of the laptop today - it's full of dog hair!

Isn't it amazing how the hair is literally everywhere? I try not to get too bugged by it but sometimes I wish I could just turn on a huge suction machine that would suck every hair out of the house. I know it'd all be back in no time, but just to have it all gone for a day or so would be so nice.

I'd worry about the intent behind an excessive gift too. If there's any chance that there's an unrealistic expectation that's attached, I'd try to graciously return it. I worked for the state for too long, so I'm paranoid. We weren't allowed to accept any gifts unless it was edible and could be shared with the rest of the staff. Otherwise we had to go thru a bunch hoops to claim it and it just wasn't worth it.

Without being too explicit, the dream involving my ex-h was set in a bedroom of a house we once owned.  He was naked and had shaved certain areas, which wouldn't have been too odd except that he also shaved off part of THAT.  It wasn't bleeding or anything, and he was jumping up and down on the bed trying to entice me.  In the dream, I kept thinking I needed to do something to make him quit bouncing on the bed and wondering why on earth he removed some of the...ahem...man part

The b/f was in a different dream, in the animal shelter, we were having a heated discussion about me bringing home one of the dogs due to be put down today (a huge male pittie).  He was trying to convince me I should wait for a small dog.  I kept saying, "but look at his face."  I guess this particular pittie really got to me because he has this way of just staring at you, almost pleading, but in a stoic way, like he knows he is doomed.

Weird, I know.  Sometimes I'm almost afraid to fall asleep.
