    Pet Transporters

    Hey All,

We need to transport our ;Pomeranian from North Carolina to the California Bay Area.

Can anyone here recommend a service and the best method, air or ground?

    Thanks!

How are you going to be traveling? What time of year?
    • Puppy
We are already in CA and we left our dog  in NC with the grandparents while we get settled here. We didn't want the dog to have to go through corporate housing etc.

We would like our pet to be transported by the end of this month. So weather shouldn't be too hot. We just fear that Bambi (our dog) would be scared of the air transportation. Not sure what is easiest on Bambi.

    Oh, I see [:)]

    Is Bambi crate trained?
    • Puppy
    Yes, Bambi is crate trained.

Okay, if she doesn't stress out in the crate than I'd vote for flying her simply because it's the shortest trip. Try for a late night or early morning flight, direct if you can get it. She may be scared but there are some natural things such as Rescue Remedy that can be given to her before the flight to help her relax.

The majority of animal incidents in shipping are escapes so be sure the crate door is secured AND zip-tied. The can fill the crate cup with water and freeze so that it will thaw during the flight. Also a crate pad of some sort of absorbent material is helpful in case the pup can't hold it. Also have the pup vet-checked before the flight for heart issues, etc.

Hopefully some of the people that ship dogs relatively regularly will be along with more advice! Good luck!

It's pretty much for rescued dogs, but maybe yours can hitch a ride.
