Mindless Chatter Wed

I'm looking to buy a heart rate monitor, looking on Amazon and reading reviews.  The one I like the look of got this negative review from someone ranting about how it doesn't work, doesn't count their heartrate correctly, etc....and the person has an irregular heart beat!  Maybe I'm wrong but that's like me writing a negative review for roller blades after having a foot amputated.

I have one and it came with my elliptical and works great. I'll look at who the manufacturer is tonight. It's kind of nice to be able to watch and maintain the proper heart rate while you're actually working out. Congrats on the 3 lbs!

Seems like so many of us are having trouble sleeping thru the night. I used to be able to sleep until 4 or 5 AM before my bladder would wake me up, but now that I have guests living inside me, I'm awake around midnight and then again around 4ish. What's really strange is in the morning when I'm laying flat on my back, it feels like I have a cantaloupe in my lower abdomen....verrrry creepy feeling Sad

I think I'm going to get my legs waxed before the surgery. Anyone know how long it lasts? Or how long I have to skip shaving before they can do it?

***jumping up and down with excitement!!!!***

I bought a new car yesterday!  It's a 2009 Toyota Highlander SUV.  I absolutely love it.  I'd rather be driving it around right now than be stuck in the office, lol.

I know I should have kept my truck a little longer, since it was only recently completely paid for, but Sammy and Harry needed a more roomy car!  Since BF and I both had pickup trucks, I figured it was time for a doggie-friendly SUV.  Right, right? Yes! Wink

And may I just say that driving a V6 when my old truck was only a 4-cyl, wow, what a difference!!  This is one smooth-riding vehicle, too.  After dinner last night, I got the urge to drive it again, so I told BF I was going on a run to Dairy Queen (we had ice cream in the freezer, but hey, any excuse to take her out for a spin), and to get there I have to go over some RR tracks.  I barely felt them.  Ahhh....I'm in car heaven right now!

Here are some pics of my pretty, shiny, new car!!

It has a 3rd row seat, but I have it down in this picture.  Look how much space for doggie stuff, lol!

Gorgeous car!  Congrats.  There's something so appealing about cars before the seats get covered with dog hair and the floor littered with take-out cups and napkins. Big Smile

I have one corner in the back yard that I sectioned off with bark and edged in a little white plastic fence.  That's where my whiskey barrels are.  I put six solar lights behind the fence and at least three or four times a week I'm back  there picking them up, shaking water out of them and replacing the batteries since Max kicks them all over when he runs back there either chasing squirrels or getting into a bark-fest with the dog in the house behind my next door neighbor. Yesterday I decided to just take the lights out of the ground and put three in each barrel. Works great!  I wish I had thought of that back in May.

Very nice Heather, did you get the $4500 since you bought it new?

Very nice!!! My car is the same color and I love it but it does show dirt more than I'd thought it would. Doesn't the Highlander come in hybrid version now too?

    • Gold Top Dog

Thanks guys!  I'm sooo happy with it.

Well, my color options of what they had on the lot were white, silver, black, and then the charcoal grey, which is the one I got.  Of those options, I think the grey will hide the dirt a bit better.  I would have loved the tan metallic, but they didn't have any.

Yes, the Highlander does come in a hybrid, but it's waaaaaay more expensive, and my little bro, who's a mechanic, said it's not worth the gas savings for the amount you pay more for the hybrid version.

Hmmm...Lies, is the $4500 you are talking about the "gas guzzler" deal?  Not sure this new car would qualify as "more fuel efficient" than my old one.  The Highlander only gets 2-3 more mpg more than my Tacoma did.

Karl Malden died. 97..wow...good long life and many accomplishments. My Moms used to watch that Streets of San Fran show I think. She wouldn't let me watch tho...lol.

Yeah, I think I'd heard that the hybrid was high. DH really wants a new Tundra, Tacoma, 4 Runner...or something in that family. We love Toyotas!! He wants a truck but I think he's worried about giving up the SUV for a truck and then missing the room. I really like that Highlander. It is very nice looking.

Hard to feel really sad when someone has such a good, long life. I watched Streets of S.F. all the time. Loved that show!

yep yep! Loong life. we should all be so lucky!

Yeah, I think I'd heard that the hybrid was high.

I think most hybrids are a little too high, but if they want people to switch over to them they're going to have to make them more affordable at some point. When VCRs first hit the market they were over $500 a pop and they didn't even have remote controls.  Now you can get a great one for about $50 ... except that DVRs have made them almost obsolete. Smile

yes and now even the elusive exclusive BLU RAY dvd' players are getting cheaper. They were up around $500 and now you can get them for $150-200 no name.

Jeez, I hate when I don't keep up with mindless chatter.  I feel so left out. Crying  I don't have time to catch up with everyone but....

HEATHER!  Beautiful car!!!!!  Jealousy rears it's ugly head. LOL  Yes, you had to do it for the dogs, not for yourself but for Harry and Sammy, you selfless woman. Wink

Gina, that makes me feel sooooo old when you say your Mom watched but wouldn't let you watch Streets of SF.  I loved that show and Malden, may he rest in peace.

Hope no one had any really bad happenings today but if you did, here's some random, non-enabling hugs.  Devil

    Jackie - LOL

Not a bad day here. Boss stayed home, new guy who's supposed to be learning my job is out of town thru all of next week. It's nice having the office to myself. I'm hungry though and there's nothing to munch on. Might have to pop some nasty butter-free popcorn - blech!

So I brought Sandy with me to see the parade today just to socialize her some more. I am soo proud of my little puppy!! She met some kids, weird dressed people, a giant walking bear, a clown on a scooter and it didn't bother her one bit!! She LOVES bagpipe music. Lol.  The oldie's car horns didn't bother her but when the fire trucks turned on their siren's, she nearly had a heartattack.  She walked away with 2 bags of dog cookies, a tennis ball and a bottle of water. Lol. The people around us were amazed to see a JRT pup sitting still. Lol. I got some good shots that I'm gonna upload in a bit.

And just as I get home and in to my comfy's, my trainer calls and says theres agility tonight! LMAO! So I have to get dressed again, and get Maze ready for class. Ah well.
