    Mindless Chatter HUMPday

up nice and early and have completed a 4 mile bike with the beast - wow he loves that and what a time saver for me!

Glenda I hope the LS V8 worked - we tend to drink it immediately after a big sweat and on hot days some in the morning and before bed.  I have always had potassium issues so yes they can knock you flat out!

Busy day today - still drizzling that rain yesterday was something darn near filled B's pool (large kiddie pool) and I only turned it upright about 9 am.  However we have 100* heat coming this weekend so suddenly 80* and raining seems niceWink

    have a good one all!

I too suffer from low potassium on occasions, so I am also going to try this, especially working in the garden mornings. I tend to drink alot of water when I go to my garden, but I don't eat, which is a major no-no. This would probably help alot. Thank you for the suggestion Karen-via-Glenda!

l.michelle-take deep breaths! You can do it!

I have discovered my inner heirloom gardener. I find I am fascinated by older/unknown veggies. What is with that? I just ordered some new seeds, now all I need is mother nature to stop the rain, geesh............PLEASE?!

My potted plants are coming along nicely.  I actually had to remember to water them yesterday, and Iikley will today as well.  Its been so rainy that the last 4 days of scorching sun have been mind boggling, and my poor little flowers were looking rather wilted yesterday morning.

I need to bring my airconditioner home and install it today.  That means putting bolts in the outside of my house...booo....but it means cool air when I come home...yay!  And then I have to work on weatherproofing my house.

Ah well, free morning since T took the girls to daycare.  I'm going for a bath as soon as Kale is out the door.

Oh ya, I have this wierd bump on the top of my foot.  It was like a mosquito bit but I scratched it and over the last 3 days or so it has turned into a cluster of bumps and they itch like CRAZYYYY.  Its on a rub point in my crocs so I don't know what it really is.  I don't really think its a mosquito bite since nothing could have really bit me there, plus a mosquito bite doesn't do this multiplying thing and usually goes away in a few hours for me.   Its rather elipse shaped now across my foot, but about the size of a nickle.  Perhaps I'll just remove my foot.

That seems a bit drastic, Candace!

    l.michelle, how exciting!

Bugsy, I hate chapped lips too and now you have your own lip balm.  LOL

Bless you Karen!!!  You will have the honor of naming my next critter!  NO disturbed sleep last night from the leg cramps!  Bless you!  What a God send that stuff was. And, oh yeah, it will STAY on my shopping list because I do like it, and gosh darn, it can keep me upright!

Jackie??  You are the AC person......mine isn't quite keeping up in the afternoons.  It might be as much as 8 degrees warmer than it is set.  We have an attic fan, just changed the filter after 2 weeks in the house, so I'm wondering if we should do something to the unit outside?? Or maybe I just can't expect it to stay where I want it when it's this hot?

Hmm sounds like what my poison ivy/oak started out as! Seriously I had a "bug" bite on my ankle and I scratched it. 2 weeks later after the "bug" bite took over my legs I couldnt take it anymore and asked JJ what was wrong with me and he says "you have poison ivy or oak." So my advice to you is DONT SCRATCH IT!!! Even if you think it's just a bug bite.

Ok gotta go do the laundry and figure out where to eat while'll Im in town.

Ok, going to the store after work and buying a six pack of V8....

As for cooling down the house. I have darker curtains for all my west facing windows that go up in the spring and come down in the fall, We close them when the sun starts hitting that side of the house, yes it makes the house darker but it keeps it cooler, and it really only effects our bedroom and 1 living room window. My AC is on 79 degree's and we have 3 ceiling fans running all the time and for the most part we are staying comfortable.

Glad your had a good night Glenda.

The sun has been out for the last hour or so.  YAY !!!!!  More rain on the way tonight and tomorrow though.  Bummer.

Pirate had to get a quick blood draw to check his potassium bromide level this morning - they did a CBC just to look and it was perfect! I love perfect CBC's with this dog :)

BF and I are taking Pirate for a boat ride to chase the birds. We have to take BF's annoying brother since we're using his parent's boat, sigh. I was excited about going until we had to take his brother.

I got a position at another kennel - minimum wage and only 20 hours a week. It's not the nicest place, but I guess it's a job. I just keep telling myself that I'll quit as soon as something better comes along.

Glenda, most resedential a/c's are capable of cooling the inside 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature.  That's because builders don't want to spend any more than they have to when they build a home. Also, your thermostat could be out of calibration if it's an older mercury type.   You can do a simple check to see if your unit is doing all it can.  You will need a thermometer that you can stick in the return air register (this is usually where you change the filter).  Get that reading.  Then put the thermometer in the supply air register (where the cool air comes out).  Ideal performance is a 20 degree difference in the two temps.  For example, if it's 78 degrees at the return air and 58 degrees at the supply air, the unit is doing all it can.  Anything below a 17 degree difference usually indicates a problem.  Are you bored to tears yet?  lol  As far as what you can do yourself, wash the outside unit's coils with water.  The best way to wash the outside coil is to turn off the power to the unit (shoud be a disconnect box or circuit breaker nearby) and take the top off the unit.  Wash from the inside out and try not to bend the fins over too much.  You don't have to worry about getting it wet inside as it sits out in the rain and water won't hurt anything.  JUST MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!!!  Some people are terrified of electricity but as long as it's off it can't hurt you.   Since you are renting, I would ask the owner when the last time it was serviced and if it's been a while, urge him to have it done.  Might save him thousands of dollars.......

Maybe he felt a cold sore coming on - Carmex is good for those, too!  LOL

Chocolate within a 5-mile radius is in extreme danger today.  Someone stop me.Indifferent

We have one of those "fancy" new thermostats so it shouldn't be that.  I'll call the daughter and see when the unit was last serviced. It's entirely possible that it's low on freon...or whatever it is they use now.  The station AC was totally dry...the AC guy said around here they HUFF it when a building is empty.  Geeze.  All that testing sounds like something I would screw up, but shall ask the DS to do it.

It's a pretty new unit.  I believe it was put in when they bought the house within the past two years.....

Oh, almost forgot my other thought that will give you guys a chuckle!

I took Corky out early this morning for her swim.  Yesterday it got too hot too early for her to be out.  Or for me.  Not sure what extremes SHE can take so I play it safe.  So, opened her crate this morning and she came CHARGING at the opening...she doesn't step out because I think she's afraid that her gimpy leg will fail to get up over the lip....."well, it's about time!" she says....and I'm absolutely sure that's what she was saying.  So I carry her outside and start to bend over to put her in the pool.....she cannonballed! right out of my arms and into the water!  Apparently I wasn't quick enough for her.  I didn't loose my grip...she used my body as a spring board and PUSHED off to get into that pool!  We both got drenched.  She loved it, me, not so much, but I couldn't help but laugh!

So she got her early morning swim, gave me holy heck when I took her out, but then snuggled right into my neck. And when I took her back to her crate she just sat on my lap and snuggled!  This is a DUCK folks.......
