Mindless chatter Tuesday

    Truley
This nasty rain is playing havoc with his allergies, the poor thing is itching more than I like, and through chewing and scratching giving himself some bad spots. Anybody have a spray or a powder I can douse the boy with to relieve the itching?

Are you giving him benadryl? If not, that'd be my first recommendation. We also had great luck with the Nu Sal T shampoo for itching and it leaves the coat nice and soft too.

I feel for those of you living with the crummy weather. I thought the way they described it on the news last night that once this late winter weather passes, it'll be hotter than normal. Not sure I got that right and I hope it isn't true. You'd probably like some really nice days for a change.

Yeah he is getting the Benedryl, will check out the shampoo, thanks.

we've used Malaseb shampoo with good results - what about Gold Bond powder I've heard that can be good for hotspots?

All you people getting flooded with all this rain have my sympathy.  We need it but I know what it's like to say "ENOUGH ALREADY".

I saw the funniest thing at lunch.  Going thru this little satellite town nearby and I heard a siren like police or fire, etc.  So, I'm looking out for the vehicle and the reason I didn't spot it right away:  It was a PT Cruiser dressed up as a police car, lights, siren, I mean this is an official car! LOL  I couldn't help but think that the poor officer driving it has to feel like Barney Fife, talk about not having a muscle car. Maybe they seized it in a drug raid and that's why they have it but it looked hilarious to me.

He does not have hotspots, yet. He was prone to them but it has been over a year since he had any. He just............itches and itches, the poor thing.

I will pick up the powder, I am willing to try anything at this point, we know it is not his food to a degree and not fleas, have not seen a one of those and he has been on this food  since before winter and he had no problems, in fact he did not start itching again like this till late april, which tells me  it's probably mostly seasonal and tons of rain is not helping. We have had over 5 inches in the past week along, let alone what we had in May.

Do you have carpets in your home?  I was just reading on CNN that mites thrive in humid conditions and make many people and animals itchy...I didn't know that.  Java has been extremely itchy for quite a while now, and I am wondering if it might be because of the 2 humidifiers I have been running.  You can't do much about the rain, but I can turn the humidifiers off to see if it helps.

Benedryl didn't do much for Java, so the Vet gave her clemastine fumar, which I think is the same as Tavist D.

Thanks to Karen's suggestion I am downing my SECOND 16 oz glass of ice cold V8 as we speak.  Now if I actually sleep all night without waking up with leg cramps, I may name my next critter after her!

Pretty sad though.  I went to the grocery and the only food like items I picked up were a carton of Turtle Tracks ice cream and some chicken and beef stock.  Everything else was beverages.  So, $30 worth of stuff to drink.  Sigh.

suggestion of ice cold V8? For the heat or the cramping in the legs?

I'm thinking that perhaps, because I drink 7-8 quarts of water per day in what I consider to be NORMAL weather conditions, including dead of winter, and have increased that amount considerably since I've been here, that there is a chance that my electrolytes have become somewhat diluted...on the borderline low side, and the couple hours out last week pushed me way further than it should have.

She didn't recommend ice cold....that's how I drink everything because if it isn't ice cold, it tastes yucky to me and does nothing for my thirst.

I love ice cold, and that is a very good suggestion.

I'm REALLY hoping that it works!  If so, will add that to my list of stuff to pick up in MI at GFS.  Will pick more up regardless because I love it.

So, it's 10:45pm and I'm watching a show with a content warning ("I Shouldn't Be Alive";) and the station just aired a commercial with Grover from Seasame Street telling all the little kids to make sure they know their mommy and daddy's first and last name, and go ask if you don't know!

    eh?

Today I had a nice break from the in laws, as they took their rental car and went on a nice adventure. That was nice. However, I had to babysit the neighbors' kids for 8 - 5:30, so not so much of break after all. haha

While they took a nap, I got to clean out Bindi and Benson's cage, as well as get some house work done. I've been meaning to do this for awhile.

The in- laws were back before dinner, so we got to enjoy dinner outside on the deck, since it wasn't too hot or too cold out today. After dessert, we went for a nice relaxing walk with the dogs on the beach. Then I watched a nice healthy dose of tv, yaayy.

So overall, it was a pretty good day.

Anybody here live in Colorado?  Please help me understand the tax rate.  My friend is freaking out because her online searches say something like 7.6%, but I found stuff that says they vary by area, but that Denver is less than 1% of the assessed value, which is usually around 85% of market value.  (ie, a $100,000 house would be assessed at $85,000, thus property taxes would be something like $850.  Big difference from $7,600!!)  I read there is a mill levy in some areas, so that's an added tax, but I think the 7.6% flat thing is just wrong.

    Anybody know??

Bevo's paw looks like hamburger meat.  The vet debrided everything yesterday, & today it looks really gross.  Having to "take it easy for a few days" is going to drive both of us insane.  He wants to pace, swipe couch pillows, & pick at Shooter.  I may strangle him...

I am seriously missing DH & the kids.  It's absolutely silent here :(
