Mindless chatter Friday

    Mindless chatter Friday

So I seem to have gotten into money laundering!  Seriously.  DH put some clothes in the dryer for me last night and came in holding an assortment of freshly laundered bills!  Taking clean to a new level here.......

I am beginning to think that Corky is not going to eat the fish.  The one she did try she chewed up and then spit out.  She enjoys ANTS, but apparently she doesn't realize that she IS a duck and supposed to eat fish.  Sigh.

She didnt get out for her swim on Wednesday since I got majorly distracted with broken glass, bleeding son, ER....and by golly when we went into the livingroom that night she gave us holy heck. Then she pouted all day yesterday until she got out for her swim, and then fussed about going back inside.  She finally decided to just con daddy by snuggling into his neck, knowing he can't resist that.  She might not know what species she is, but she certainly knows how to get what she wants and twist us around her little webbed feet!

I am soooo hoping that we get a day this weekend to play.  Haven't had a full day since Mother's Day and I could use a play day or a trip to the beach......

I'm going camping!  I'm sooooo excited.  I just have to get through this morning at work, then a family picnic at Kale's school, then its off to the lake.  Its just us girls going, 2 girlfriends and I so I'm going to sleep in as late as I can both mornings.  Funny that that is what I'm most excited about.  No little girls waking me up wanting to play. By Saturday morning I'll probably be missing them something fierce though, lol.

For now, I'm off to clean out my cooler, have a quick shower and get to work.

I think you'll understand if the very THOT of camping makes me groan!!

Glenda, most domestic ducks are plant/insect eaters and don't eat fish.  Only a few wild ducks are fish eaters and if you are ever offered one from a hunter, just say no.  Fish eating birds don't taste good.

Have fun camping!! That is my fav summer passtime.

    Tgif

I need to go on the road again today but I'm not that excited about it.

It looks like summer is finally going to arrive this weekend. Yay.

These foster dogs have got to go soon! Scarlet is now chewing my sheets and blankets. It takes her all of 2 seconds to put a hole in something while she is laying right next to me! I want my house back

Responding to the encouragement in yesterday's thread I am going to post this and sign up for the Race for a Cure.  Pirate's mom I will run for your mom, and my cousin (deceased) and my aunt and my grandmother (deceased) and a dear friend (also deceased).

I am sad today.  The memorial for my friend last night was good but sad.  My friend's boxer pup diagnosis is horrible.  I thinking about all the above people has kicked my butt.

However it is a lovely morning so far, breezy and ever-so-slightly less humid.

OK off to sign up for the race and to pick myself up by my bootstraps and put a smile on my face

This weekend is already crazy but it will be good.  I already HAD a full Saturday planned -- my hair appt tomorrow (there are few things that bring the joy that a really good colourist can bring to a woman of *mature years* (major snort -- Wally's awesome - it is the ONLY thing I do to pamper myself and dang .. I'm worth it LOL.  Skin's too bad to have my nails done and I hate to shop)

Tomorrow nite we have tickets to see Classic Albums Live do Sgt. Pepper down at the Hard Rock.  http://www.classicalbumslive.com -- if you EVER get a chance to see them it is AWESOME.  A relatively cheap evening out for a live concert and dang they are GOOD.  They have some really surprising venues -- check them out.

Well, David said last night he'd really like to SEE the Endeavor lift off tomorrow over at the Cape.  I've seen a launch but he hasn't and unfortunately there could be darned few left.  But it means we gotta leave our house about 4:00 a.m. to get over there and get half decent parking.

Well color me OLD but no way am I getting up at 3 to do all sorts of "fun" things only to get home tomorrow night at like 1:30.  I'll have time to come home and give the dogs some exercise in between but that's NOT going to give ME time for a nap.

Sooooooooooo I called my faithful buddy Wally (my "really good colourist" *grin*) and re-scheduled for the next week.

Now I'm stoked -- the launch will rock (a thermos of coffee, a coffee cake, and holding hands with my husband??  YES!!! it doesn't get any better than that!!) and then we'll have a good time.

However, I gotta say -- the IRONY of being old enough to want a freaking NAP before I go to hear Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band done LIVE at the Hard Rock??  There is some sort of mixed message there somewhere *cracking up* but I'm just gonna laugh at myself and have fun.

But heck -- I was too young to have gone anywhere to see the Beatles do it originally, and frankly the sound will be better now (I'm gonna borrow Gina's *cackle*)

The owner and breeder (and SV judge) of Nikon's father will be at training tonight!  Yikes, now I need to clean up Nikon, brush him out good before we go.

    • Gold Top Dog

Can/do dogs fur change when they get older?  Co-Co is 5 now and before when I would brush her I'd maybe get a couple nice handfuls of hair off and that was it, and she wouldn't really need brushed again for awhile.  This time I brushed her and took off enough hair to make another med. sized dog, and now just a little bit later theres already more tufts of hair needing to be brushed out.

I saw a flier for a lady that does grooming in her home, she only charges $3 for nail clipping.  I try to do it myself and typically have no problems w/ Blaze, but Co-Co hates it and she has black nails so it makes me nervous.  We're supposed to go in on Saturday so I'll see if I like this person/place.  Something about her bugged me when we were on the phone, but I don't think its fair to totally make a judgement off of that.

The BFs insurance company p*sses me off.  He had an agreement w/ his ex that he would keep her on the policy that they had until it was ready to be renued.  Well, its time to renue and they won't take her off!  They said that they have to call her and she has to agree to not be on the policy anymore.  So as long as she avoids their calls (which is what she's doing right now) or says no don't take me off, he's stuck w/ her on his policy.  She has had the car, in another county for 4 months but he has to keep her insured unless she agrees to let them drop her?  That's BS, IMNSHO.  Why the hell would she agree when she can just keep avoiding them and be insured for free?  She's hateful and spiteful and no way in hell she's going to do *anything* to help him out.  Actually, when he got rid of his other car and got this one, they insisted on calling her to make sure she was ok w/ that.  She finally told them it was ok, but then texted him that he couldn't get his daughter that weekend.  I really dislike this woman.

    /end rant

Wow,  didn't mean to go off like that.  Its that time of the month and I'm cranky, so I'll blame that :o)  Thank goodness its friday.

Callie, have fun at the launch, sounds like a blast!!  lol

Karen, I bet you'll have a great time on the walk tomorrow.  Have fun!

We are going to a going away party for a friends daughter tomorrow.  The daughter is going to camp for the summer and apparently this is a good reason to have a party.  The daughter has been quite the problem this year in school and her mom seems to feel that sending her away from her "bad influence" friends will help.

Steph, can your b/f drop that insurance co. completely and go with another?  If his ex won't be reasonable, remember that's why he is paying an attorney.

Mammogram was uneventful.  I think my boobs have regained their normal shape, too.  The place where I go, the last two years, I've always had a little consult with an FNP after the exam.  They'd go over importance of self-exams, ask questions about diet/exercise.  It was about a 15-minute spiel.  Not today - it was practically a drive-thru mammogram.  I am not sure why, but will put a question in my survey card.

Does anybody have identity theft insurance?  I've been pondering it.  It's $8 per year, covers $10,000 in losses, and a specialist with the insurance co does the vast majority of work needed to restore credit and such.  I wonder if anyone has had experience with it, good or bad.

Anyway, I hope the Red Wings win tonight.  I don't think this state can handle much more crappy news.

Tina, he's looking up quotes now :o)  Its a little harder b/c he has his homeowners w/ them too so he'll have to switch that too to get the discount.  Thank goodness for his lawyer, sometimes I think she is the only thing keeping him sane when he has to deal w/ that woman (term used loosely).  I just get frustrated sometimes b/c I can't do anything but sit back and watch.

LOL, I was so aggravated by that situation, I forgot to share my good news..... I'M GETTING A MOTORCYCLE!!!!!!!!

We stopped and looked at it last night.  Its old, '82 but it only has 12k miles on it, and in great shape.  It was just inspected a few months ago and passed w/ no problems.  Its a Yamaha 750.  I was a little worried about it being too big for a first bike, but we've talked to a few people and read some stuff online and its supposed to be a good starter bike AND very reliable.  I was going to wait to get one till after I finished the course at the DMV but it was too nice of a deal to pass up.

I'm so glad it's Friday!  I'm in a better mood than I have been in for awhile.

Chloe needs a bit of a groom this weekend, and I have the usual chores, but nothing big planned.

There's a shuttle launch tomorrow? I can usually see it from my balcony just fine, hehe.

I got fired today - don't wanna talk about it. I think I might take a road trip up to ME while I'm unemployed. Nothing better to do.

    Good luck Karen!!
