The things we go through in the name of vainity!

I got my legs and "other" area waxed yesterday for the first time.. OUCH!   And the lady who did it for me suggested I come back once a month to keep it up.

If my mom hadn't of talked me into it, I wouldn't have done it. Thou! I'm wearing shorts today for the first time in 6 years! Lol.

Ok....I've always wanted the "other" waxed for summer, but I'm too scared. I want to do it this summer! Was it not as bad as you thought it would be? On a scale from 1-10 (1 no pain at all, 10 being the most painful thing you've ever experienced), what would you rate it? LOL! Sorry, guess I'm nosy!

It was not even close to as bad as I thought it would be.  On a scale of 1 - 10 I'd say about a 6. It's bareable and the pain is only a second of pain then it's fine. The more you do it, the more your skin toughens up.. Or so my mom says. Lol

If you do get it done, make sure they use baby powder before putting the wax down. And expect some minor bruising if you're like me and can bruise very easily.

OH!! And expect to get in an embarassing position! Lmao!!! The brazilian gets ALL the hair down there..

The roots of the hair get weaker the more you do it too.  Like when you pluck your eyebrows?  The first time hurt like a beech I'm guessing, but now, you barely notice it, and some hairs don't even hurt at all.  Leave your brows for an extended period though and its back to ouch city the next time.

Don't pluck my eyebrows. Stick out tongue But I understand the idea. Lol.  It's just getting over the squeamishness of laying there in nothing but your shirt while a stranger rips the hair from your legs and crotch. Lol! Surprisingly enough thou, I didn't feel at all weird doing it.. Yeah I was alittle reserved about stripping but once it was going on, I was fine. Thou a little self conscious of my tummy..

I've always wanted to get a bikini wax but I'm too much of a chicken. Embarrassed

Jan, just do it!!!  It's totally worth it!

Oranges, next time you go in for waxing, it won't hurt nearly as bad.  Each time that you go will be easier than the last.

So they keep telling me. Lol! I found it funny that some spots hurt more then others. It's really weird.

K, I gotta question about the bikini waxing....how often is it done, and how long does the hair get before you do it again?  I'm not against the pain or the awkwardness of doing it, but, erm....I really like to be smooth, and I've been shaving since I was 13 so my skin is very used to shaving (I know some people have terrible reactions or get lots of ingrown hairs).  I don't know if I could handle letting it get long enough to be waxed again...

I think it has to be 1/4".

EEEKKKK!!!  Just reading this made me cross my legs really fast!!!  I have never had anything waxed!  I keep that area trimmed down really good but to actually get the hairs yanked out.  NO THANK YOU!!!  I told my step mom that she needs to go try it and if she doesn't kill over in pain, then Maybe I'll try it!!!

When I first started waxing, I had to have it redone every 4-6 weeks.  Now, because the hair is much finer, I go every 10 weeks.  The salon where I go, wants the hair to be between 1/8-1/4 inch long.

How do you go about finding a good place to go?  My dr. says I really should stop shaving that area now that I've had some issues with folliculitis but I'm worried about finding an upstanding place and I'm totally not comfortable asking coworkers if they wax there lol.

I found the place that I go now by talking with coworkers.  We were discussing shaving, & someone mentioned that they waxed.  I was curious & asked her for general info on waxing.  She recommended a day spa where she went, & the rest is history.

Instead of announcing that you want a bikini wax, you might complain to coworkers about how having to shave your legs is such a hassle.  All women hate to shave, so you should get a respons. This way, you can fish for information without having to come out and ask.
