Dog/Owner Stereotypes

My dh is a big man and with his Harley tattoos you wouldn't expect to see him with his little girl Shih Tzu's. He is so in love with those dogs. He has a picture of them on his desk at work and his friends like to razz him about it. One day we put pink hooded jackets on them and had them sit on his lap in the drivers seat of the mini van. They were both kissing him and we took a picture and blew it up. He hung it on the wall of his office as a joke.

I know I have posted this before but my bf is a Marine and we happened to work for the same company he brought Jody to me one day when I got off work and my bf has the reputation for being a real hard a** at work and him being a Marine really doesnt help, well then Jody @ 5 months jumps out of his truck and a few guys start laughing saying wow Wynter must really have you whipped..

I never thought i'd be a 'small dog' person but Jody and alot of the small dogs I have encountered at the dog park are great and some have more personality than the big dogs i've encountered. She gives me just as much or even more love than my Golden did.

... Josh also gets alot.. man that dog must be a real chick magnet... grrrrr

That sucks. I would just stare right at them and say, "Sic em, Jester." I'm terrified of being attacked by a papillon, lol. [:D]

People are funny.  Usually when I tell then I have a pit bull I get these suspicious "Wow I wonder if she runs a meth lab out of her basement" looks.  When I tell them my second dog is a lab, they immediately settle down and start asking what the dogs names are, etc.  It's like Jack being a lab balences out Sally being a pit somehow.  In our house this is known as "The Lab Effect."

I also get people who laugh at Sally's name.  They think it's funny that a pit bull would be named a "girly" name like "Sally."  Well, she is a girl dog--but I guess being a pit bull somehow cancels that out?

    LOL!

It is my SO's dream to teach Jester to growl on command.  That way, when someone mocks the dog he can give the command and get a growl.  I don't know how we'd go about training that though!  Especially since Jester isn't exactly a growler.  If we could accomplish that, we'd definitely have to get him a spike collar for when Matt takes him out... haha this is freaking funny men and small dogs I think is very cute and I find it attractive. I was babysitting a friend of mines Chi who is very tough I might add he gave my dog a run for his money and we were at the beach and my BF was more than happy to be seen with him till he noticed some guys laughing and I was promptly handed the Chi's lead and he snatched Chips(hunterway dobbie X) lead to feel manly again

If I worried about what people thought of me or my family I think I would blow my head off! those roofers need to stop being such red necks, people that are gay walk any dog large or small. So good for him walking the little dog! My daughter is gay and has walked American bulldogs and Chis, how much smaller can you get.

That's a real man. Unafraid of anyone and unafraid of words.

If I were walking a toy breed and someone asked me if I was gay, I would say, "Why don't you come over here and we'll find out?" That usually stops the conversation. I noticed that these people that bothered him on the walk were a "safe" distance away. I like to refer to guys like that as punks because they are. They don't have the guts to walk right up to you, within swinging range, and spout their crap. So, they are immature twits.

That's pretty much what my SO said.  He called the roofers on it-- none of them were willing to come down from their perch.

He wasn't so much offended by it as he was just amazed by how idiotic some people are.  I never understood people who would verbally attack a stranger that was minding their own business.  The stereotype is ridiculous in itself.  Like Jen said, being gay doesn't make you prefer one dog over the other, or anything else for that matter.  We have several friends who are gay and none of them fit the stupid stereotype.

I think those idiots must have scarred him for life, both SO and Jester have gone missing.  Must be on a walk.  I think it would make his day if one of them said it to his face.  [;)]

Doing training I have been bit by more little dogs then large, so it is most likley a good thing they didn't get off the roof! Paps are so preaty I just love their history and think they are small but tough!

I personally love it when I see a 'big manly man' walking a little foo foo dog.  I think it's the cutest thing.  These guys become very protective of their 'little friends'.  They proudly walk fluffy down the street and with their body language defies anyone to make negative comments about them or fluffy.

I personally know several manly-man, harley riding guys that at the end of the day go home to their wife and 'fluffy'.  These guys would be more devastated than their wives if anything happened to 'fluffy'. That doesn't make them less of a man.  It makes them more human, in my opinion, which makes them a bigger man.  If that makes any sense.
