I'm in love!! He's home!!

 I'm in love with about half of the dogs at that shelter right now! Try volunteer dog walking, you'll want to take them all home :)

Take your DH down there for you both to meet Larry, couldn't hurt right? 

I would love to take him down there.  I think he's afraid that I'll put up a fight and need to take him home!  I am planning on talking to him when he gets home tonight after work...  We'll see how that goes.  Is that where you volunteer??

that's why my DH won't go down there anymore. He knows I'm itching for a third dog and he's pretty content with having just 2 in the house at a time. I used to volunteer there walking dogs, unfortunately my schedule has become way too crazy to do that but hopefully I'll be able to do it again in the near future! 

See, I avoid being manipulative at all costs ... the way *I* would do it is I'd say:

 'Hon, I saw a dog on petfinder who's at the shelter, but I'd rather YOU'd meet him at the same time rather than just ME look at him and fall in love.  It's your decision too -- he's not gonna be little -- he's a labrador.  He's a pup and you know part of *my* need is for a dog who will do outdoorsy stuff. 

Yeah, I know you want to have input but you don't plan to take care of the dog ALL BY YOURSELF do you??  I mean if it's really going to be YOUR dog you'd have to do all the caretaking, etc. ... so it's gotta be a dog I can get along with too.  This dog just seems to fit the criteria that both of us seem to want -- or is there something you've not said to me?"

 And honestly TALK about it.  And then say something like "You'll have to come up with a better name for him -- I DATED a Larry -- no way am I calling him that!!"

Callie, I KNEW you'd have an awesome response!  I will try that.  I talked to him a bit about it and he didn't seem too bothered by the idea of looking at him, so hopefully we'll go there today.  And great idea allowing him to name him.  DH is a little concerned by his size.  I think he's worried that 28 pounds at 4 months will make too big of a dog for us.  I, on the other hand, think he'll be perfect.  ;)

I have also been really down since I lost Buster.  It just feels like something is missing.  I lost my best friend, there with me through everything.  He would ALWAYS cuddle with me on the couch and now I have no couch buddy.  I know there's no guarantee that this dog would be a cuddler, but there's a chance.  lol  I love my other dogs, but they don't feel like they're mine.  Max had belonged to DH, Lady to DH's sister, and Benny, well he's mine, but he really loves DH. 

Oh and where can I get a cheap, big crate? Craigslist?

Teddi's a lab mix and he's a big cuddler and lover! :)

Your best bet for a cheap big crate is def. Craig's List!

They should if all 4 dogs get along during a meeting. I've seen people adopt even thou they have 4 or 5.  

We went to visit Larry today.  He wasn't there  :(  He was off site at a Petsmart, so I didn't meet him.  They suggested we come back on Tuesday.  I did fill out an application and they said someone else has an application out on him too, but they are dragging their feet.  Unfortuneately DH is going to be working for the next 12 days/14 hour days.  My sis and I are going to meet him on Wednesday and maybe bring the dogs too.  So, we'll see how it all goes!

I'm going to meet Larry tomorrow!!  I am so excited.  I am going to take Max and Benny with me.  Hopefully they won't push that Lady has to meet him too.  SHe hasn't been feeling great and it's hard for her to get around, not to mention that she hates car rides and has a vet appt tomorrow night.

Me too!  Best of luck....when its right, its just right.  I hope he becomes yours!
