Mindless Chatter Monday

Sorry about your grandfather, Lies.  I wouldn't think a landlord would have a problem with a temporary fence.  I mean ... it is temporary. Happy Birthday, Heather and Cathy!  I'm looking at Easter leftovers for lunch, even though I'm sure both my grandmother and mother are spinning in their graves about me fixing pasta w/chicken, garlic, tomatoes and mushrooms and a green salad for dinner.  My family was alway into the big ham, prime rib or leg of lamb (or some other weird stuff I'd never want to cook) for Easter. They don't know how lucky it is that I cooked anything at all.

LOL - my family was the same way. I actually loved it but I'm not inclined to cook like that myself.

DH's dad took us all out for brunch yesterday to a french bistro. Wow, I'd forgotten how heavy and fattening french food is. I had eggs benedict with crab meat in there somewhere and it came with the yummiest potatoes. There was also chocolate filled pastries and a beautiful platter of fresh fruit. The entrees were all of a french theme but at the bottom it said you could get an omelet. I was surprised and giggling when DH told the waitress that he wanted a Denver Omelet. She just looked at him and said "I don't know what that is". I teased him about being the only person that's come to this french bistro and ordered a Denver Omelet Big Smile

Liesje, my condolences on losing your grandpa.

Joyce, I had pasta & vegetables to Easter dinner, too.  I ate alone, though.  Can't handle the salty ham and roast anything is too many leftovers for me.  I miss that part about having Bear - no food went to waste ever!

A lot of people have April birthdays, including me!  Mine's not til the 19th.  I'll be 42.  I think Candace (huskymom) also has an April birthday.  Happy Birthday to everyone who was lucky enough to be born in April!  Cake

Liesje my Sympathies on the loss of your Grandfather.  I know he's been ill for quite a while.

    Heather .. Happy Birthday!!

I'm at home today.  we were all over creation yesterday with the sunrise service for Easter down at Bok Tower (http://www.boktower.org) which is always gorgeous but it's insane -- we get up at like 3:45 a.m. to be ready to leave by 4:30 to BE there at 6 a.m. (to be all the way up the 'hill' TO the Tower).  It is THE prettiest service ever and David and I do it every year because we enjoy it   But it's an effort.

Then we had breakfast at Chalet Suzanne's ... another place that defies explanation http://www.chaletsuzanne.com/ and way too expensive for anything other than a "special event".  But Bok was one of our first 'dates' on Easter back in 1995 and so on THAT story goes.

Only Chalet Suzanne can make grapefruit, scrambled eggs & bacon, little pancakes and coffee into "an event" but they do LOL.

The broiled grapefruit is AWESOME.  They loosen the segments of grapefruit, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and then BROIL it til browned.  It sounds bizzare but it is beyond yummy.

Then we came all the way home to let the dogs out and then back down to Disney/Epcot (which is almost in the same area Bok is) to see Hermans Hermits at the Flower & Garden Festival.

I KNEW I'd be completely worthless today besides I can't cook dogfood and do laundry when I'm not here *sigh* (where's that Fairy Dust when *I* need it??).

So today's at home playing catch up.  Kee Shu is in the "TimeShare Beddy" at the moment with Tink's Sucky Pony.  So .... I guess nothing is 'normal'??? LOL

Sorry about your Grandfather Lies. What a way to start the week.  I hope everything else goes smoothly from now on.

Happy Birthday Heather.  And Happy Early Birthday Cathy!

Tina, you're right.  But most of the April birthdays are on the 22nd I hear.Wink  LOL.  Me, Amanda and Will(Chuffy's boy).  Crusher was on the 10th.

No motivation today.  None.  Perhaps its on vaca with Glenda's sunshine.  The girls are at Daycare and I'm home because school is closed for Easter Monday, but they'll be marked absent if they aren't there and Kelci already has one absent this month(for funding reasons they get 3 absents a month then I have to pay them myself and at $40 a day each...well)  Kale has gone to a friend's Grandma's for lunch.  Tyler is lazing around on they couch and I'm on here.  I did finish up some embroidery earlier.  Put Kelci's name on her spring jacket and some flowers on a pair of rather boyish brown overalls she got from Liam.

Oh and I was soooo careful about putting away the turkey on Saturday, not leaving it out on the counter, making sure it was well back from the edge while I made a sandwich yesterday even.  Then I made Tyler a hot turkey sandwich for supper last night and totally spaced.  Yup, Dogs got it.  Well, just 2 wings, a drumstick and a bit of white breast meat.  A minute or so into the crunching I realized my mistake and went vaulting into the kitchen.  Well that panicked Onyx who must have though I would steal her prize(and I would have) so she gulped the rest back.  I should have let her chew it properly, but hindsight being 20/20 doesn't help much now.  I've been watching them both like a hawk and they both seem ok.  Neither has acted like they are in any pain or anything.  Neither choked obviously, but I'm still worried about perforations.  They both got some good chunks of bread right afterward(fresh homemade bread only 2 hours old I might addAngry) to cushion things a bit, but I doubt that made much of a "don't do that again" impression.  Does anyone know how long I need to keep my eyes out?  I have to work tomorrow so they'll be by themselves for a few hours at least.

Candace - I think your dogs had a better dinner than I did last night. No wonder no one counter surfs in my house, there's nothing worth jumping up high for ;). I think by tomorrow, you'll be out of the woods. Hope all is well with them and you won't have to worry while at work.

If I know Chuffy, her BD party for Will is going to be the place to go for birthday celebrations. I asked for a chest freezer for my BD. Geesh, how boring and practical is that Hmm

Lies, sorry about your Grandpa.. May he rest in peace.

I wish someone would feed my some home baked bread if I ate something bad for me. lol Candace I think your dogs will be fine but next time just send all the food you plan to cook (don't forget that bread) down to me and I will happily debone it for you and send it back all packaged up.  I hope I don't forget to send some of it back to you, like the bread.....LOL  Ooh I'm gaining weight just thinking of warm, fresh bread from the oven slathered with real butter.  Stop me, someone slap me.

I've gotta take Max to the vet in a bit. I went to Hershey yesterday, and came back to a nasty smelling dog. He puked in his crate, and of course had to lay in it. He doesn't want to  be washed, so I haven't done that yet. Probably when we get back from the vet. I have to miss a meeting, because they said 4:30, and it's at 4. I have to go when they give me the appoinment though. I think he puked from chewing some underwear. Usually, he passes things just fine when he does that, but this time, I guess not. I only threw the crate out the door last night, and didn't see what he puked up, but it looks like that was it. It was funny last night though, because Max usually barks at my sister's boyfriend, and I have to take him downstairs for him to be able to leave. Last night, he walked out, and had no clue Max was there. Today, he did bark at the door when he came, so I'd say he feels better. Now if he would just eat, we'd be all set.

Otherwise,I am hoping to get to a training tonight, but that will mean I miss part of dancing with the stars.

Oh, and I have not mailed my taxes yet. I never wait till last minute, but I am this year.

I just put mine in the mail today. I honestly almost forgot all about it. When you have to pay, it's not high on the fun list of stuff to get done.

I hope Max is okay. It always worries me more when they're so ill that they don't even react to things that normally upset them. Poor guy.

Lies - very sorry about your grandpa. That sucks and yes your had a really bad day! Any day when a dentist involved is a bad bad day not to mention having a death in the family

Happy bday to all the bday folks. Tomorrow is my bros. His wife called me to ask if spending $400 on a mountain bike was too much. HA! She did not like my answer. I wouldn't even look at a mtn bike under $800. I told her why and she understood "that makes sense" but she is very thrifty so I bet she won't buy one. They are getting my niece one though and she's really excited to go biking with me. Which will be a good motivator to get back on my bike. One of my fav things is biking mtn and road. I miss it!

A squirrel came flying in to my bay window tonight. Craziness. That'll team it to try to jump up on the bird feeder from the porch. It was in shock I think. It sat on the ground below my window for at least a half hour.

I was shocked at how much DH spent on his mountain bike but he does get a lot of use out of it. Now he has a twinkle in his eye for a really expensive street bike. I swear he lives by the motto "he who has the most toys at the end - wins!!" Big Smile

Haha yeah. I told my sil that I spent $1200 on my road bike and she about had a cow. But I get a couple thousand miles on it each year (except last year!) So its well worth it. Bikes are a get what you pay for item.

Yeah, I think DH spent that much or more. It's a Cannondale and has some special type of frame this or that. He then needed special gears and then this or that, plus a rack to put it on and tinker with it. He even has Cannondale socks Huh? I know the road bikes can cost even more. He's been looking for a good deal for several months now, so I'm sure I'll come home one day to find one in the garage.
