Mindless chatter, happy weekend!

    Mindless chatter, happy weekend!

Good Morning all!  I have determined that morning just comes too darned early and I'm going to start ignoring it.  I've been doing a great job of it all week.....takes me at least an hour to get up, pushing doze all the way, ever since the time changed.  I think thats an excellent response to the rather unnecessarry time change.  Unfortunately, no one except my fellow idoggers, and the DH, will be aware of my protest. But, by golly, I will know that I'm protesting.  Hmmmmm, I sound like a child having  tantrum!

We are supposed to get temps in the 50's this weekend.  Time to break out the shorts!  Hit the beach!!  Opps, forgot, the lakes are still sort of frozen.  Guess we'll put that one off for a bit.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I'll protest with you Glenda.  The girls have been getting up even earlier than normal even with the time change.  I don't know why.  Kali has been up for an hour and a half already.  Plus she was up at 4.  At that point I convinced her to go back to bed though.  I had to open her window and show her that it was indeed still night time.  Yawn....

I'm going out tonight with the girls.  I'm going to have to get up early on Sunday though so I'm going to clean the house completely today so I can just lay around on the couch and interact minimally with the girls, at least until its not too early.

I really wanna rent one of those bins you see on the renovating shows.  The big garbage bins?  Ya, I want one so I can just start chucking stuff.  I'm hoping I don't have enough to fill one, but I'm sick of working around it.  I have an old eliptical that I wanna get rid of so I can get a new one.  Its too noisy to use after the kids are in bed.  I also kept alot of the trim from when I painted, but I'm going to just get new stuff now as the old stuff is in pretty rough shape, so that pile can go.  I have 2 broken babygates that would each need a tag if I put it out for regular collection.  My kitchen table has got to go, or I'll never get a new one.  Its so wobbly and awful looking.  I wish I had a truck so I could haul it to the dump myself.

Yawn! The sun is super bright this morning and it is almost motivating me to take the dogs out early. Almost.

i have been getting into a bigger and bigger rut over the last few weeks. downright depressed.

i had a fight (a bad one) with my dad and i really dont wanna talk to him. problem is, my insurance runs through him and he needs to give me the money to do the surgery (it's complicated with this insurance...). so i have been putting that off. my doc will give me a lecture about it any time soon, but since this breast lump really isnt a big deal at this point, i am just gonna not deal with it for a while...

on top of it all, i am going extremely broke. i have a little bit left in savings, but i really really dont wanna touch that, since i might need it for bills or emergencies... so i am living EXTREMELY cheap right now. yesterday i got me dinner for about 1 USD. today bf took me out to lunch, then went with me to a cafe and was nice enough to pay the bill for me, before he left me there to do some work. so all i spent today was less that 50 cent on the subway right back home. and now i am having left overs... it's working so far. monday i am going to call this company in shanghai. they owe me quite a chunk of money from a job i started back in november. they need to pay me NOW. ergh...

good news is, i applied to like 9 different companies yesterday and today and i have some freelance work for the next couple of days at least, and this company is quite nice, so i can expect some money to come in maybe end of next week... for now i'm not stressing too much. i have no big expenses and i have the BF, my mom, and even my former boss wanting to lend me money, so if it comes down to it, i can definately survive. plus my rent is paid for the next 3 months... bummer though, there was one of my favorite DJs (from the UK, i think) playing yesterday. too broke to go out. i'm afraid to call my friends and find out that it was awesome... :(

oh well.. at least i am being productive, out of my rutt, working and applying for full time jobs... life isnt all that bad...

ps: i bet noone is reading all this babbling.. haha

I read your rambling :) I am very familiar with living and eating cheap. 2 words: scrambled eggs.
    • Gold Top Dog

*shudder* i am NOT a fan of scrambled eggs... lol... i rather eat plain white rice...

so wanted to go eat with my mom today. they were going to one of my favorite restaurants tonight. but when i called them, they said they were going now and i had to finish some work and then walk to the subway and then go there and then walk from the subway station to the restaurant it would have taken me an hour AT LEAST, so i had to pass... grumble... i hate not having my bike with me.... tomorrow i'm taking the bike... ! lol

    so yeah, scrambled eggs... lol...

I know how you feel Candace!! The time change is worse when you have kids! Samantha keeps getting up at 5 and telling me she's not tired anymore. Well sorry but it's still dark out so back to bed!! I feel bad because I can hear her in her room tossing and turning. I dont even make her take naps just so she will sleep at night. She used to be so good at sleeping till it was light out. Stupid time change.

I got Joker a wubba and a cuz. He loves them!!! Well except the part where he cant get the cloth off the wubba. He's been trying hard. They were pretty cheap at the dog show so I couldnt pass them up. Now to get Fynn some.

Those who have wubbas and cuz do you leave them laying around so your dog can play with them whenever or do you supervise their play with them?

I'm stocking up on homemade treats and snacks today, made Kim's salmon fudge so the house smells like fish and Ben is going bonkers.   Also making liver treats and I've stuffed a bunch of kongs with some bananas that were a bit too ripe for human consumption, peanut butter and yoghurt.

I've scored a free chest freezer, got to chatting with the owner of the pet store just down the road, he's started stocking frozen raw and while DH and I were discussing freezer space he chimed in and said "I have a freezer you're welcome to, you'd be doing me a favour taking it off my hands."  Woo!

Going out to dinner tonight for Greek food, yum.  I've had SUCH a crazy week it will be nice to relax and maybe drink a glass of wine or two.

My house is starting to look like a puppy will be coming to live here, I put up the crate a few weeks ago and today put bedding and food/water bowls in there with the door locked, I want Ben to get used to seeing things in there.  History tells me that Ben is very curious about any new object in his space for a week or two and then he ignores it, so hopefully he'll have learned to just accept it as "there" to a small degree by 15 days from now.

Off to make more treats, happy weekend everyone!

Ben's are out 24/7, I have sliding doors to protect the most valuable object in the room (the flatscreen TV, the unit has doors which slide to cover it) and Ben is gentle on his toys and won't destroy anything even unsupervised.   Your mileage may vary, it depends on how a) destructive Joker is and b) how annoying he might be with all-hours access to them.  I DO have a few toys which Ben only gets when I'm not around because they squeak at a pitch that makes me want to jump off a bridge LOL.

Thanks Kate. Joker has done tore up the wubba. He kept chewing on a certian spot and the fabric is shredded and I can see the balls in it. He hasnt gotten the feet off the cuz yet but I've been watching him on that one. The lady selling them told me that some dogs actually get the feet chewed off so I should watch out for that. He was working on the feet last night but got annoyed with not being able to disable the cuz and just started sqeaking it like crazy. I had to take it away.

Is there anything out there that he wont be able to tear up?!!

FWIW I clicker-trained Ben not to destroy his toys.  It worked a little too well, I can't buy him new ones because there's no room in his toy box until he breaks some of the old ones.  I'm counting on the new puppy for that. ;)

Kim all of Bugsy's toys are hidden away - he took chunks of the top ball of the wubba off in a about a minute (my mom gave it to him and I told her to watch him and she didn't Hmm)  We still use it but it is stashed for safe keeping.  The only toys that are left out are outside toys and he has never shown an interest in destroying them.  If the same toys were inside he would destroy them (they are mostly Air Kong toys) Go figure

I spent all week with my sister putting a website together and generally advising her as she starts her new business.  Whew I am glad her site is up and running - I don't know a ton about these things but I know a lot more now. LOL

It was 84* on Wednesday and topped out at 39* yesterday (and it was pouring rain) It is cold and rainy today too. So last night DH broke a glass and he collected the large pieces and I dry and wet swiffered.  Coast was clear.  Um no.  This morning I am reading the paper and I couldn't hear or see B, he was laying in the living room with a huge piece of glass that he was proudly guarding over.  No idea where he found it but knowing the way he operates he had it for a while and had been carrying it around until he decided to wait for me to find him.  Thank doG he has the softest mouth in the universe.

Great day to catch up and watch basketball I say - sure I could be more productive but phoey!

If the pup isn't a destroyed B is on his way - he can clear out the old toys in less than 10 minutes Wink

How do you clicker train to not destroy toys?

Here's a picture of his wubba now.

Joker says to pick him up and he will gladly help take out the old toys.
