Update on my dogs

Just wanted to let you all know that it is going well with having Scarlett and Bear inside. As I type, they are sleeping away on their beds. They don't live in here, they still spend the nights in the basement, but they spend usually 2 long periods of time in the house, if I am in most of the day, they are in for awhile in the day, and almost always spend the evening in with us. Bear still loves the outside, and will ask out if she gets the desire to be out, Scarlett likes it wherever she can sleep. She is old, and the long basement steps are tough for her some days. We have put her on a good supplement and aspirin. Neither has accidents in the house. Scarlett I don't trust to get up and wander around. She is the hider, and if she starts to prowl I let her out. She is also really stinky, so she has to stay on a bed, not on the carpet, which I think mostly suits her just fine. Bear on the other hand, is fairly trustworthy to allow to roam around, and she never stinks unless she finds something good to roll in. She is usually holed up though in a bed too.

I don't have to have Bear in first before Scarlett anymore, neither seems to care who was there first, and the only time there has been growling was when we had the puppy here, and Bear got all full of herself. Also, when Mom's adopted dog was here, I forgot and left a toy on the floor.  That makes it nice, it just took some time. I spend a lot of time outside, and although they don't stick with me like Kota did, they do take the notion to hang out with me sometimes. we try to take Bear walking in the back field and woods as often as we can. Scarlett used to go, but now refuses to go along, and will lay inside the gate or go back to the basement until we get back. I don't know if it is too much for her, but you cannot convince her to go. Bear is getting the hang of how off-leash walks go, and helps me check fence, and listens pretty well even when away from me, which is good when the horse took the notion to chase her one day and I was sure she would stop and roll over, but she listened and kept running until she was out of the pasture. We know now to stay out of his way.

That's about all for now. Just thought I would put in a little update. Bear has gotten quite a bit better inside, not so skittish of every noise and movement like she was, but all in all her basic fearful personality is still going strong. But that is her. I still love her. Julie
