Poor Aspen - (Grady you know where) - HUGE Update - Page 3

I'm so sorry to hear about Aspen's patella.  Poor little cutie!  I know such injuries can happen to any dog, but the little ones worry me more, for some reason.  We dog-sit our neighbors' mini-Schnauzer a lot, and I always think his little bones and joints seem so fragile, like they could really get tweaked (or worse) from just basic playing or jumping off a couch, etc.

I hope the news continues to be good.  Sending good vibes to both of you!

I'm so ecstatically happy!!  Peanut (Aspen) just had a second surgical consult today.  Surgery is a LONG way off if at all.  His patella has been fine for the last 2.5 weeks.  I haven’t had to give him any pain pills & he’s been walking & just being Aspen like his normal self.  There has been no indication of ANY discomfort at all.  So we met with Dr. Johnson today.  She’s very highly recommended & now I know why.  I felt very comfortable with her & the way she handled my boy.  She confirmed my thoughts.  No surgery for now.  He’s almost 9 years old & not into agility or any crazy type running. He’s happiest sleeping on something soft.  Yes, he’s got 2 bad knees but they seem to not be bothering him.  We’ll keep him on Dasoquin & resume normal activities.  The only thing is I need to keep an eye on him & if he seems to be in any discomfort we’ll re-think things.  I’m so relieved.

What a huge, huge relief!!  I'm so happy that Aspen is doing so well and doesn't need surgery!  Give the little guy a kiss for me.

Kisses delivered.  Aspen says "tanks for da kisses".  If he does need surgery of ANY kind, I'll ask for this surgeon.  She seems competent & genuinely loves dogs.  The first surgeon I went to was cut happy.  It seems that all he wanted to do was slice open my boy.

Yipee for Aspen!   I'm so glad that you don't have to face surgery right now.

Isn't it wonderful when you find a competent professional that you feel you can trust?  Good for you for going the extra mile.

I have been to a Doc like this many years ago with our Bear,  this is why we have a new Doc!  A Doc you can trust is the best peace of mind.
