Valentine's Day plans?

    many places don't take reservations.

I've found that to be common here too...call ahead seating isn't really the same. I guess they just want to get in people who are there, guaranteed money for the table I guess...no chance of cancellations. Still...I wish more did reservations.

People here eat too late...like 7-8pm! I cannot wait that long for my grub LOL. We eat at 6:30 here and that feels too late for me sometimes...I typically eat something at 3 or so to get by.

No special plans here.  I'm going out to breakfast with a group of friends and maybe I can think of something to make for dinner.  And maybe not.  Gina, years ago we made friends with some neighbors that were here from Argentina for four years.  They couldn't believe how early we eat dinner since they were used to eating about 9:00/10:00 p.m. By that time, most restaurants have stopped serving. When we'd have them over for dinner we'd compromise with 8:00. Smile

I found the same thing when living in Germany. We'd go out to eat around 7ish, but it was like some of the places had just opened. We'd be the only ones there. Heck, I'm getting ready for bed around 9 or 10, so I have no idea how they do it.

They do it by having a schedule that's totally different from ours.  A lot of them eat at 9/10 p.m. and don't go to bed until 3:00/4:00 a.m.  Then, they're getting up for breakfast while we're finishing lunch. Must be a heck of an adjustment. Smile

What Joyce said, plus many of them take siestas in the afternoon.  They close after lunch and then re-open around 7:00p.

Dare I ask why you pick up your summer's worth of steaks all at once? Bulk rate or somesuch?

Basically.  We buy them whole and the butcher cuts them for us to a specific thickness.  My whole clan goes in at one time so we order something like 200 lbs of steaks at once.  Plus, the closer you get towards the summer the more expensive they get.  It is literally a $2 price swing and when you are buying that much, it really adds up.  We are kind of nuts-o about meat in my family.  Don't even get me started on chicken...that order was for 100 lbs of chicken breasts - I only get 30 lbs. of it though for $1.19/lb.

I think we're going to a dog show, but it depends on how my foot is.  If I don't feel like walking around then we'll snuggle up and watch our favourite movies at home with some popcorn.

Saturday morning is "Paws in the Park" - the fund-raiser for our local SPCA in downtown Orlando (and I'd betcha Megan will be there for DDA????).

I wish!!!! I picked up a shift that night (since they offered whoever picked it up $15!) and then I was already scheduled on Sunday, and I refuse to work for 48 hours straight! I may drag Pirate down there if I feel up to it. Who knows.

As for v-day, I dunno what the plan is - BF and I have started Couch to 5K together so we're going to run in the morning!

I plan to spoil Dh some that day. I will surprise him with fresh coffee in bed by finally getting a brew and grind coffee machine. Also, Trader Joes has awesome chocolate croissants that are frozen and you put them out over night to rise and then fresh bake in the morning. They are great so I will bring him choc croissants and coffee in bed.

Then we are going to take the dogs to the park to walk like we do on weekends we stay in town, only in the car, all hooked up and ready to listen to will be an ipod touch with a red bow around it waiting for him.

Then after our walk we will go to our favorite park that houses all the wonderful museums and gardens in our city and we decided we want to go see the IMAX showing of “Van Gogh”, followed by lunch at our favorite pricey restaurant in that park and then an afternoon at the art museum.  We haven’t done the Imax space theatre in ages nor the art museum and the restaurant has become a special and romantic spot for us.  It will be a rainy day so I  think this will be a great way to spend the day.

I'll be kickin' it in the neonatal ICU from 7pm-7am. Romantic, huh.

No plans here. Well, we might rent a movie and order food. We've never really done anything for Valentines Day.

Well now wait a second -- it all depends on HOW you look at it.  I mean -- BABIES ... usually don't exist without someone being romantic at some point??  And altho work might not be 'romantic' -- the absence thereof can be a REAL drag on romance!!

We are going to the beach to our favorite B&B. DH bought me a gift certificate to it for my birthday.  On a side note, "Aunt Flo" came visiting today.Angry Oh well, there are "other things" we can do!Wink

We are staying at home, in our pj's for Valentine's Day.  We are going to cook dinner together, & have a picnic in front of the fireplace.

Today, I bought DH a painting that he saw & fell in love with earlier this week.  It's already on it's way back to Texas now, & I've been assured that it will be delivered to my office on Friday.  I also found a robe that I know DH will look very cute in.

This evening, I told DH that he needed to figure out what pj's he wanted me to wear all day.  He said that he was going shopping tomorrow!  I hope that he considers comfort when he buys my "pj's", but I seriously doubt that he'll even think about that. Embarrassed

dont know yet... i'll probably just cook something nice so we dont have to go to a restaurant, and then hang and watch movies or something... havent really planned much yet, since the Bf just had his GMAT exam on tuesday (and kicked butt by the way! 730! yay!), and i havent seen him much before that...

we usually dont really make a big deal of it. last year we didnt celebrate at all... whatever we're in the mood for... :)
