Valentine's Day plans?

    Valentine's Day plans?

Just curious, anyone doing anything exciting?

BF and I are going to stay home and cook up a fancy dinner. We just finished moving, and then took a trip down to FL, and this year we're way too exhausted (and feeling way too poor) to bother with chocolates and flowers and elaborate dinners out. We might head down to Ikea to pick up a cheap bookshelf or chest of drawers (to get our books and clothes up off the floor, where they've been currently residing!).

Our menu so far contains: homemade salmon spread for appetizers, individual-sized mini beef wellingtons either with cheese or mushrooms (no pate!) for dinner, mashed potatoes on the side, some sort of veggie, and then something chocolatey for dessert. Should be fun - I'm looking forward to it!!

Mmmm....Courtney, the menu sounds delish!  If it weren't Valentine's Day, I'd ask if I could come over for dinner...LOL

No plans for me,  last year I had plans that were foiled and Bear ended up getting the ribeye steak intended for my bf.

Nope we're likely driving Lavvie up to her new home that day....we might stop off on the way home and gamble some if I feel up to it! That could either end up being fun or a real drag LOL.

This may not sound exciting, but BF and I are going to a hockey game Saturday night.  It's kind of a tradition of ours.  Our very first V-day he took me to a Carolina Hurricanes game (we lived in Raleigh, NC at the time), so we kinda like carrying on the tradition.  One year there were no pro games that night, but he had a hockey game (he plays "beer league" hockey), so that worked for me; I just went and watched him play!  The last couple years we haven't done anything, because there've been no games, and we've been together so long that V-day isn't really a big deal anymore, so I was really surprised when he suggested we go to a Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) game this year.  So, it's really sweet that he even thought of doing something for V-day, since we really haven't celebrated it in like 2 years.  He actually wanted to take me to a Gary Allen concert, until he found out it's not in Atlanta, but in Columbus, GA.  That would have been fun, but so will the hockey game!  Plus, Gwinnett Center Arena is like, 10 minutes from our house!

No BF, but dogsitting the exes. I'm going to mnake whatever I want and eat chocolate, that I bought myself. Very self indulgent! Can't wait.

Well during the day I'm moving (yay! goodbye sh!tty apartment) and then I think the BF and I are going out to dinner, but I'm not 100% sure.

I don't think that in the 6 or so years my fiance and I have been together, that we have ever celebrated Valentine's Day. It just usually goes forgotten by both of us. hahaha.

This year, he's actually judging a skiing half pipe competition at a mountain 2 hours away from me, with his ex girlfriend! hahaha. Everyone I've told has just looked completely shocked at this, but I couldn't be happier for him. He's been feeling very stressed lately about money issues, and skiing is a perfect way to get his mind off of it.  I'm glad his ex thought of him for this opportunity! I have to stay home with the dogs, so I can't go too unfortunatly, but the house needs some major cleaning up, which I plan to tackle this weekend.

Saturday morning, I am taking Riley to get her 1st haircut.  I say me because I am the one paying, but I think there will literally be 15 people there taking pictures (one of the kick backs from living within 2 miles of your WHOLE family).  I will definitely post pictures because I think it is going to be a nightmare.  She hates anyone touching her head so this should be interesting.

After that Riley has gymnastics class, which is basically a 1/2 hour of two year olds running around like nut jobs jumping off a bunch of mats.  It's fun and it wears her out!

Before Riley's haircut I am picking up our steaks for the summer from the butcher.  Yes!  That would be 20 lbs of choice NY strips and 20 lbs. of choice filet.  Whoo Hoo!  I got a steal ($3.99/lb.) since my family basically funds this guy's annual vacation to Hawaii with our meat orders.  Most likely I will grill up a couple if the weather is still good.  Probably hang out and watch a movie or something.

Saturday morning is "Paws in the Park" - the fund-raiser for our local SPCA in downtown Orlando (and I'd betcha Megan will be there for DDA????).  Billy's gonna try to 'win' for "Best Tail Wag" or something and I'll try to see if there is a "most interesting rescue" or something to enter Tink in.  Fun will be had by all of Clan Kennedy *grin* (and yep, I have Scottish t-shirts for everbuddy)

Then in the evening David and I will go to Enzo's.  That's a 'tradition' with us (we can only afford it once a year *grin*).  It's eclectic and the staff are ... INTERESTING.  The food is awesome and the people-watching is absolutely stellar!!!  We have more stories from going to Enzo's than anywhere else.

David and I tend to treat Valentine's as a "gift-giving" holiday -- particularly silly toys and stuff.  And I have a GREAT little animated 'toy'  for the pups to harass him with.  LOL

That sounds hi-larious! Dare I ask why you pick up your summer's worth of steaks all at once? Bulk rate or somesuch?

    Callie, what's Enzo's?

Wow, that is a bargain. I'd be happy to help fund the guys trip to Hawaii too if I could get those kinds of prices.

I'm not sure what we'll do, but I think we'll probably go out to eat. I have 3 gift cards for different restaurants just burning a whole in my pocket, so we really have no excuse not to. I already bought DH a bunch of candy including some retro stuff (Hot Tamales). He's a candy freak, so he'll be very pleased.

Here too. If we go, we'll go early. DH likes to eat earlier than most people anyway. Even Fri. and Sat. nights around here are crazy and many places don't take reservations. That's one of the reasons I have these gift cards that we haven't used. By the time I get home Fri. evening, the last thing I want to do is go hang out in a crowded restaurant.
