I guess my sons spoiled me. They never nursed more often than every 4 hours. And they were both sleeping all night by two or three weeks old, so I got even more of a break there.
Yes, of course BFing is supply and demand, the more demand, the more we supply. BUT, I'm not sure that any human being could ingest enough food to create TWO gallons of milk every 24 hours. Yowser! It takes time to put away that much food!
I have a friend who nursed her twins one on each side at the same time. So, if this gal is coordinated AND someone else feeds HER while she feeds the babies, that would save a heck of a lot of time. Poor Grandma. Guess that'll fall to her too. Feeding momma I mean.
With the federal mandate to keep biological families together, it's highly unlikely that these children will be put up for adoption, and even foster care isn't very likely. Having been a foster parent, I've got a pretty good idea how the system works, and more likely the State would provide support services to enable momma to keep the kids with her. Which, of course, means more taxpayer dollars sucked down the drain.
I love children too. I would have liked to have had more than two. But that couldn't happen, and what we did instead was to be very involved with children in sports, in scouting, and also by being foster parents.
My heart just aches for these babies....all fourteen of them.
