Frontline is a lot less damaging than Revolution.
In order for ticks to transmit tickborne disease, they have to FEED. Not just attach, but actively be feeding (literally for the tick's body begin to swell). The Frontline transmits into the 'mouthparts' as the tick attaches -- it doesn't kill from contact with the dog's blood because Frontline doesn't go into the bloodstream. It's just that the tick's outer body is SO armored that it has to get into the tick via the mouthparts. But that's why the tick doesn't ever get engorged when the dog has Frontline on -- because it kills the tick before it can feed.
Honestly I think you're doing the best you can do unless you do something to your yard to treat it for ticks which is tough.
Deer ticks are a problem -- have you tried pouring ammonia around the permeter of your house and property? To a deer, coon or any wild animal that's like saying "SOME BIG HUGE THING LIVES HERE".
The other thing my mother has done that works well is to rip up sheets of Bounce fabric softener (the dryer sheets?) into strips about 1/2" wide and tie those on bushes and vegitation -- for some reason the deer hate it and avoid it. My mother has always complained where she lives she spends more time cleaning deer poop out of the yard than anything else!!
