Leaving a colar on 24/7

Diesel wears a flat buckle. For what, I don't know. There are no tags on that collar (the other leather has tags), the flat buckle ruins his hair and he will -never- get out. I should take it off. We go walking with a harness, so we have no need for a collar.

Mine wear collars 24-7. I'm paranoid lol.

Two of my dogs where there collars 24/7.  We remove my pugs at night becaue she has bad hair folicals and she will loose hair if the collar is on to much. All have flat buckle collars.

Never say never, especially with dogs!  I would rather my dog's hair wasn't perfect than have one of them get out without any ID and wonder if they  might have been returned, if only.

For a nice collar that won't damage fur, check out the White Pine collars.

Long time favorite of the Samoyed show people, because they can be left on 24/7 and not damage coat. They also won't bleed color onto your dog if they get wet. They come in a limited slip (similar to a martingale) and a snap buckle. The snaps are high quality, never heard of a breakage problem.

I don't leave collars on my dogs, but I know some that do and they have never caused coat damage or breakage. Any collar will make the hair lay funny over time (collar hair, close cousin to hat hair) but a grooming session takes care of that.

    Here's the manufacturer's website. http://www.whitepineoutfitters.com/

Sam's easy on his stuff(except harness's) so I'm making him a new collar just for tags to wear 24/7.....hopefully the "heavy" nylon ribbon will work well, I'm doubling it up, adding a D ring, and a plastic buckle.

I wonder if those White Pine collars would be ok for Ena's neck? I keep eyeballing them, at shows. I might get her one, just to see.

Everything I've tried that wasn't satin (including kangaroo!) has really, really bothered her little neck.

I think they would be the next best thing to satin. The feel is similar. The leashes are very soft in your hand. In fact, so soft that I don't really like them because they can slip through your hands easier than anything else.

Get the limited slip, so there is no buckle or any hardware next to her skin.

I've felt them, before, but I didn't have the Crested, then. I liked them, but I agree about the leashes. I like leather leads, for regular walking and obedience. I'm going to have to try one, for her.... Maybe somebody in Savannah will have them.
