Good thoughts for So. CA members (Joyce)

Apparently another huge fire broke out last night, in addition to the one burning in Santa Barbara.  They have sustained winds of 20 - 40 mph and gusts up to 70 mph so it's going to be a doozy to get put out. This one is only about 20 miles north of downtown Los Angeles and is threatening the power grid, so they're asking all southern Californians to only use whatever power is absolutely necessary and to really conserve water. They could lose power to all of Los Angeles. The TV footage showed some houses with those pretty red tile roofs ... they are fireproof, but some of them got so hot with flying embers that they collapsed down inside the homes. I don't think we have forum members right in that particular area, but I'm sure a lot of them farther south are getting the smoke and embers big time.

I hope everyone is OK.  I'm all the way on the other side of the country and they were showing it on our news this morning.

It was pretty nasty out today. I was about 5-10 miles from the fire today and man it was awful to breathe. It felt like when we're camping and we're sitting around hte campfire and the wind changes directions and blows it all in your face. except you cant get up and get out the way. I feel soooo awful for the all the people who lived in the 600 mobile homes that burned. I am hoping to hear about a good donations drive for the victims to help out with. Esp right before the holidays!
