Love these!  Bella looks like she is so incredibly bored with the whole photo shoot and can we puleezee just go!  Love the booties. First time I put some on a dog she acted like she couldn't take a single step.  Akyra is so totally beautiful.

Your kiddos are adorable and the booties are cracking me up!  But I guess if you're a runner, you have to have running shoes huh?!

Your girls are adorable, their boots just cracked me up: 2x adorable!!

They are so cute!  How do you get them to keep their booties on....lol

    • Gold Top Dog

How do you have them riged up to your bike? I need a solution for Sam and I....

How to keep booties on :)

I'm using the 'ultra paws' boots, they seem to stay on pretty well because they have two velcro straps, you have to get them fairly snug to stay on.  I also ALWAY have my dogs do something while wearing the booties, I don't give them a chance to think about taking them off, they also come right off as soon as we're done.

theres alot of glass in the bicycle lanes around here, so the booties are insurance :)

The riggin for my bicycle is one regular leash tied to the front of the V racks on my xtracycle, then a ruffwear bungee coupler, each of them are wearing harness's.  they pull a little bit so the harness' are comfy & I'd rather have any pressure from an evasive manuever or quick stop be applied to their bodies & not their necks.  So i have  dog 'assisted' bicycle.

I dont really have any tips for tethering them to a regular bicycle, the Xtracycle is EXTREMELY stable becuase of the wheel base.  If I didnt' have an X I'd probably only have one dog on the bike.  I also like the length of the bike becuase it almost creates a wall - so the dogs are less likely to dart in front of the front wheel or try to go behind the bike. Its worked out pretty well for me.

I once saw a tuturial about how to make your own springer - it essentially was a nylon strap on the front fork of the bike - I highly recommend NOT tethering your dog to the front of your bike.  It doesn't take much for the front wheel to come out from under you.

I thought Springers were by the seat of the bike....I'm gonna google some stuff I guess, I'm only going to have 1 dog - so a regular bike should work...

ya a 'real' springer is good. I was just making the point of not tethering to the font fork :)

have you had sam out on a bike yet? I started mine on regular leashes so I could correct them, then later on when they got the idea, they were tied to the bike.

I also used my leg closest to them to bump them out of the way when they were turning - rather than bump the front wheel into them. I'm trying to teach them left & right commands.  they know 'whoa' and 'easy' lol like horses!!  I always give them some sort of vocal command before I do anything that isn't ' going straight ahead' like if i have to turn or stop.

Not yet. I have to actually **get** a bike first! LOL!

I tried teaching 'left' but it's going to take some time.....

The area we will be at most is a straight shot(basicly - it's a curvy road, but no major turns) it has 3 cu-de-sac's. 1 at the end of the main road, and 2 others that are tiny. I refuse to go down one of them because someone has a Great Dane & a terrier of some sort with an underground electric fence. They both act agressively towards anyone that goes down that road. So I'd really only need the comands once or twice per ride.

awesome. mine are still learning 'turn commands' but they're pretty responsive to me saying 'listen up' or I'll say 'this way' and they redirect their attention to me.

you can find awesome deals on bikes at goodwill or on Craigslist :)

I dont blame ya on the 'semi-loose' dogs, I dont trust those electronic fences. I probably wouldn't go down that road either, my are doing pretty good just going past houses with barking dogs - that they can't see. Theres only 2 dogs that are visible, the girls do pretty good at keeping their mind at the task at hand.

Sam's focus is pretty good. I just have to say his name. If that doesn't work a quick 'pop' of the leash works.

    I love this photo...
