    Will's got chicken pox!

Poor little guy.  Please send some Anti Itching Vibes to help him through it.  The spots looked really bad this evening, hopefully it's peaked now and they will scab over and he will be on the mend.

Here he is, cos I know you love him as much as I do.... Tongue Tied

I know I know!  He is handsome Big Smile

Awwww, he doesn't look bad at all and doesn't look like he's too awful. I'm sending anti-itch vibes your way, but if it doesn't work, try some calamine lotion.

Great suggestion.  Calamine lotion is good stuff for itchies. It's hard seeing the little ones have something and not be able to understand why they're itching and feeling crummy, but in the long run .... better now than  when he's a teenager or an adult.

Feel better Will!!! (and lots of prayers for good patience for Mummy!)

Poor kiddo.  I so feel for him.  I had them my sophmore year in HS.  Serious trauma there.  Anyway, I took oatmeal baths.  Ohhhh, they felt great.

    • Gold Top Dog

Aw, poor will. It doesn't look too bad, I hope he's feeling ebtter soon! I've heard oatmeal baths are really helpful too!

Poor Will - anti itching vibes coming your way.  Feel better soon little man!  And yes, he is sooo cute!

Aw poor guy!  Anti Itching Vibes coming from here as well.

I don't even know for sure if Kale has ever had the chicken pox.  He had some spots once that I thought might have been them, but when I asked him if they were itchy, he said,"Kind of, not really though"  Kale had really bad eczema as a kid though so not much bothers him as far as itchy goes.  Mosquito bites are such a non issue with him I don't even notice them on him unless I can actually see them.  I'll send some of his non itchy powers to Will.  Mmmmkay?

Thanks everyone!  The reason he doesn't look too bad in those pics is just because they are Pre Pox Pix.  I hadn't even TAKEN any pictures since he had got chicken pox at the time I posted.  I was just grabbing the opportunity to photo share with you.  THESE are the Poxy Pix....  Watch out, you will itch just LOOKING at them...

    Awwwweeee.... poor, sweet little guy!

I totally second the oatmeal baths, if you have Aveeno products there you can buy packets of oatmeal stuff for itching that you swirl into a tub.  Just be careful 'cause it can be slippery.

Good luck!  Anti itching and patience vibes are now soaring across the pond...

I feel for the fella!  At least he has them young...it's an advantage in the long run.

Nope - five or six people in the last week have told me that they have had chicken pox more than once, or shingles more than once, or had chicken pox AND shingles.  I thought having it meant you'd gotit over with and could never have it again, but that's an old wives tale apparently!

    • Gold Top Dog

Well, from what I have read, you can get shingles more than once...apparently chicken pox can leave some residual virus which pops up later in life.  And I guess if you have a mild case of the pox, you can get it twice.

What I really meant was it is more bothersome later on, in more ways than just being ill with it.  LOl, my daughter had the lead role in a school play in the 4th grade, and she managed to break out all over on that morning!  The school was not too happy at all!

Marty is right I think.  Those that have a mild case of Chicken Pox, can often get it later on again.  I've never heard of anyone getting it twice, bad.  Will looks pretty bad.  He's got lots of spots.  Does he have any inside his mouth?  My friends little guy had them on his tonsils and everything!  (his name is Will too...)

Plus having them later on increases the chance of scarring.  Little kids have much more resiliant skin.  My nephew pulled a pot of chilli off the stove onto himself, he had massive scalds all over his body, even down his diaper, hospital, bandages, antibiotics, and not a single scar from it.  (note: this is why we never leave cords hanging over the edge of the counter...)

    How's he feeling today?

Awww, poor little guy. It's definitely worse than in the pre-pox pictures and yep, I felt itchy (and cold) just looking at him. I hope it's not too awful for him and it clears up fast. I have no memory of having had them as a child but I do remember the Calamine lotion, so I assume I had them.
