    Completely NDR decorating poll

And that's why it's here, in NDR LOL.

When I am painting a wall I use:

    • A roller (100%)
    • A brush (0%)
    • A paint pad (0%)
    • A spray gun (0%)
    • Total Votes: 22

For the curious, this is because DH and I have a dispute over the best method of painting a wall.

I picked roller, but I'd actually use a roller and a brush. I don't think I'd even attempt using a spray gun but for those who know what they're doing, it can be a real time saver.

Roller and brush.  We used a sprayer for the outside but it seemed to be more trouble than it was worth!  Always having to fiddle with it and clean the screen.  I bet I know who wants the sprayer. lol

Actually no lol.  I use a roller for the big expanses of wall and a brush for neat edges.  He likes to paint the ENTIRE ROOM with a brush.

I thought it was a "tool" thing!!  LOL  Wouldn't it take forever to use a brush for the entire wall?

    • Gold Top Dog

Well, yes...but I guess that doesn't matter since I am the one who will be painting it...LOL.

That's funny!! I guess we won't be hearing much from you for awhile Wink

Now it's becoming clearer.  I just love when they take that position, don't you?  Here's the best way for YOU to do this project. LOL  I hate painting so any way to make it go faster is the best way for me.  I am not someone who changes the color of the walls on a whim only when they really need painting.  But for some reason I love to watch decorating shows and such.

I said roller (with a brush on the edges).  The only reason I'd use a brush for the entire thing was if I was purposely going for a certain texture, otherwise I'd probably do it too randomly and it would look odd when dried.

I said roller as that is what we have used for most of our paint jobs. We do use a pad on edges. When we painted our basement we power sprayed the ceiling, too much to paint around, then used a roller on the walls.

I am the brush painter but I do trim! That is pretty much all I paint is trim.

LOL I actually just managed to get him to agree to help, so it shouldn't be too bad.  I can't start until Friday anyway, we had the plaster re-skimmed and it needs to dry.  He's going to see SAW V with a friend on Friday night, so I'll get the undercoat done on my own then.

I just take the easy way out and hire a painter (running away and hiding now.)

Oh, yes.  It's my very very favourite thing when they do that.....or not.  And in any case, I should not NEED to argue the best way to complete a household project with a man who took 2 days to figure out how to assemble an IKEA bedframe.

    DIY...in my house....it's woman's work.  LOL.
