Missing My Daughter?

    Missing My Daughter?

Normally in the evenings it's me and the dogs on my bed watching TV, reading, etc., but the last 3-4 nights Layla has been sitting or laying outside my daughter's door and won't come in on my bed. My daughter (the dogs know her as "sissy";) moved out about 7 weeks ago. Tonight I opened the door to her bedroom and let the dogs go in and sniff around. Could it be that Layla is missing her???? I feel bad for her.

Absolutely. My hounds always watch out for family. They know when someone is gone longer than they should be and it worries them. Just talk to your fur kids about your daughter. Use her name, keep her room open and when you talk to them tell them , " You know I talked to ( insert daughter' s name) today she is happy, likes what she is doing right now... things like that. They get used to the calm tome of your voice and hearing her name reassures them every thing is cool...

    Bonita of Bwana

Yup, I agree. My parents' Bouvier can often be found on my little sister's bed, now that she is away in college. They do what Bonita was saying, "Z, Elizabeth is at school, she is having fun and she loves you. She'll be home at Thanksgiving."

The funny part about the new structure of the house is that Z is now the center of the world. He goes for rides in the car daily, long walks, etc. I alway bought all their dog stuff whenever I was in town since I know more about food, supplements, etc. Well the other day my parents called me from the car because they were trying to find the store where I shop so they could get Z all his things.

Maybe some extra special time out of the house would help her too.

I have "conversations" with them about her and have been taking them on more car rides and walks. I had the bedroom door shut because having it open was a constant reminder to me that she's gone, but I'll leave it open for the girls.
