Who has a Roomba?!

    Who has a Roomba?!

The other day my mother asked me what I could use around the house for Christmas. I said a Roomba, and now she's asking me if that's what I really want. I thought it would be great for the living room into the kitchen on our hardwoods because the dog hair always bunches up all along the baseboards and in corners. Plus some of the dirt the dogs track in from outside. So does anyone have one and really like it? Can it go from hardwood floor to an area rug or would it just stay on the hardwoods?

I don't have one but my girlfriend does and she loves it.  I am afraid if I got one Charlie would attack it.

I dont have one but would love it if I had one,  my concern would be all the hair.   I love my Oreck but I do have a problem with the hair and not just the dogs, my long hair gets caught in it too.    Would love to hear more about "Roomba"

This is one of my concerns too, and my mom's. I'm afraid Teddi will think its a toy and try to play with, err I mean destroy it.

I had one. It was not great with doghair - very small "tank" for holding dirt, and filled up quickly. Also, in order for it to really work well there can't be a lot of obstructions on the floor - I basically found myself cleaning the house so I could let the Roomba go. Which you'd have to do anyway for a regular vacuum, but definitely detracts from the "turn it on and leave, come home to a clean house" appeal of the Roomba. It also was not great at cleaning into the corners, and occasionally scuffed up our baseboards when it bumped into them and tried to turn.

Ours was an older model, so maybe they've fixed the problems, but we ended up scrapping ours (which we got second hand) and getting a traditional vac instead.

I have always want one of those... but I start always to think about my own long hair and all kind of disasters. Although, the idea of not having to clean the house is a dream!!

I've thought about it.  Actually, I've thought I'd like one for every room, but I think there's just too much dog hair and I'm sure Max would either attack it or think it was attacking him.

Even a BC that visited my house did not attack or herd it.  Wink

That said, it's great for cleaning in between cleaning but it's not a "replace regular cleaning" vacuum.  It does have a small tank but can clean up one room pretty well.  My dogs have medium length fur and it doesn't have any problems picking it up.

We don't use ours much because I never think to turn it on.

I have one, but its havin 'issues' it doesn't know what it wants to do. I need to clean it again, i was cleaning it one every 2 days, apparently at MY house, that wasn't enough! LOL

when it was working - AWESOME!!

Yeah, what Leslie said - it is a good "filler" cleaner but IMO doesn't replace a regular, manual vacuum (Siiiiiigh.)

Rascal never minded it, but he did get pissed when it went near his squeaky toys, so he'd rush over to pick them up so greedy Roomba wouldn't steal his precious toys. Stick out tongue
