Yes we have a gas stove and I will make sure I let my dad know that.

When my father use to run the other store down the road from us. I remember one time a mouse got in. The back doors were open and it seems that the mouse got in thru a crack in the door. I remember me sitting on the couch with my legs curled up and everybody chasing the dang mouse. We didn't have a cat back than and I wish we had one! Finally the mouse went back the way it came thru, and my dad blocked all the cracks. That was one scary momment in my life!

I feel for you Sowilu, we have a mouse situation here too!

I put two mouse traps yesterday night but it seems this is a very small mouse, because the cheese is gone and the trap wasn't activate! My DH was so shocked about me buying the traps and putting in place, but now he is making fun of my "Mice restaurant" Super Angry My cats have being guarding around the kitchen and Zarina even got her way through under the sink pipes... yep no Zarina and some noise coming behind the counter!! When I got her out of there, I just wanted to take care of the situation myself. I don't like mice! Thor's food and the cats are in closed plastic bins but I don't like to take chances.

I'm sorry if my comment bothers somebody...

If you can find small holes in closets or under the sink where they might be coming in, you can stuff them with steel wool (like sos pads) and they won't be able to chew through it to get back in. I got this little hint from the park handyman in student housing years ago and it seems to work.

I know you don't want to look; but can you get someone else to slide something like a long ruler under there? If you're not seeing any other evidence it could just be some sort of food thats making the cat obsess.

I guess I will have to loan you Shadow and Jade. Jade is good at tracking down where they are coming from or hiding. Shadow's good at bowling everything out of his way to get to the critter. I never thought I would get in the pest control business.

Yes send them my way! Tomorrow is the big day * I think* that we are going to move the stove and see if there is something under it. I think Shadow and Jade will be really handy.

Just remember - if you don't ask Shadow to drop it, he will consider the mouse to be the spoils of victory and will have nice little gnosh.

If I'm not mistaken the world record ratter was a terrier.  Over many years I've had a mouse in the house once, the kids had a party & I should have installed a revolving door.  I get a call the next day, daughter frantic, saw a mouse run into the closet.  At the time we had a Cairn, I told her to open the closet, point Oz in the general direction.  It took less than a minute for him to dig through all the junk (teenagers) and dispatch the mouse.

He took care of countless mice in the yard, as did the Westie before him.  Haven't seen a mouse anywhere near the house with my two Aussies.

If someone in the neighborhood has a terrier let the dog do what it is made to do.

Shadow's gourmand appreciation of Cotton Rat Tar Tar helped me back of some of my worries about feeding raw. I can say that because we don't have a rabies problem in our county and are on the three-year protocol.
