    Autumn walk -pic heavy

I took advantage of a stunning morning to take B for a hike around a local lake.  The fall colors are really good right now. Hope you enjoy them.

the road in the distance splits the lake - this is the first part of our hike

    Did you hear that ma?

Can you see the Great Blue heron? (It was huge, pic doesn't do justice as I had to use the zoom)

we've made it to the other side now

    Thanks for looking

Thanks Julie! We are really lucky, this lake is about 5 miles from here and has a good 5 or so mile hike around it.  they have paved paths but we take the trails.  We also have a huge lake that we walk to (about 2 miles) but that doesn't have trails around it.  I love Autumn so I am trying to get out to these spots while the leaves are so colorful.

That is so pretty! The woods around here are starting to look like that. Wish there was a large body of water near by....

What a beautiful day to take a hike!   It looks like that in NW Arkansas too.   I like the colors of fall but it reminds me that winter is just around the corner....burrrrrrrrrrrr!  I dont like winter!

Nice!  Even though I love winter I the white stuff on the ground this morning was a little depressing....  M&M and I should come for a visit.... I would love to go camping in an area like that.

The first thing I thought of is Walden Pond.  If this is what Thoreau saw when speaking of his beloved home, I understand why he gushed so much.  Gorgeous photos!

Karen, I've consulted with my monsters, & we have came to an agreement....we want to come for a visit!

Woohoo! Bugsy has playmates coming to visit Big Smile

Thanks all - we are spoiled here - yes summer can be ghastly but Spring and Autumn make up for it!

One of the great things about this area is that this lake, the giant one (650 acres of water) near us and an 18th century grist mill with lake and paths are within 10 minutes of us and like 6 miles from downtown Raleigh.  On Sunday I think I'll take him for a 10 mile hike in another park that is about 12 miles away (this park is 5600 acres).  If you like getting outdoors North Carolina does have a lot to offer

Info mercial over!  Van Morrison poor Bugsy has only seen snow once and it was about an inch. I hope this year we have a bit for him to play in - I miss snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
