here's a helpful hint from MissT -

if you apsolutely HAVE to unthaw bread in the microwave, be sure to remove the 'plastic' tie.....it does in fact actually contain metal, and will cause your bread/microwave to catch on fire......

Here's another sparkly a co-worker taught us. And it does work. Take a grape, white or red. Cut it nearly in two but not all the way. Lay the two cut faces face down on a plate. Turn the microwave on for just a bit and you will see arcing between the skin of the halves. It is due to the electrolytics in grapes.

*of to the grocery store to buy grapes, bread and a fancy glass*

A co-worker was talking about an episode of "Mythbusters" he had seen where they took some dry ice and cut it into strips and put them in a 2 liter resealable soda bottle. Then added water. As dry ice converts from solid to gas, it expands drastically. And the bottles are blown apart. We're easily amused.

My advice?  If you really want to unthaw anything, don't use the microwave...try the freezer....

If you're reheating a fast food burger, they're sometimes wrapped in a foil like wrapper that looks and feels like wax paper.....no....it's foil...makes for a pretty light show in your microwave

Hmm....pickles are supposed to have A TON of those...wonder if you could put the pickle in there....I am way to afraid of my microwave now tho to try it...LOL.

Makes sense. I haven't tried pickles, though.

Everytime my son has a friend sleep over I have to hide the marshmallows.They don't spark but they do get huge in the micro.
