... but thought it would be funny late-night comedy for the next 4 years if Palin was VP.

Sadly, that is so true! I crack up hearing those Mavericky sound bites.

I'm really going to miss all of that. Last night when McCain was giving his concession speech, I kept expecting her to pull out one of her 2012 t-shirts Wink

i am curious to see what happens once obama takes office... will he follow through on his promises?

Thats a wonderful question....but has any of the presidents?

no other president (in my lifetime) has promised change like our current president elect. if he doesnt follow through, then any old washington guy/gal could do that.

i am curious to see what happens once obama takes office... will he follow through on his promises? will the war in iraq end in 2009 like he promised in his speech when he won the democratic nomination? when are my taxes going down? i am tired of paying high rates for health insurance. when is it going to be more affordable? when is our economy going to turn around? when am i going to be able to buy a car that doesnt run on a petroleum product? is joe biden personally going to come shut down our nuclear power plant and install wind mills? when?

imo jan 21, 2009... obama has a lot of work to do. i hope he is starting to prepare today.

    (emphasis added by me)

He does have alot of work to do. But, realize it's going to take time. Real change is a slow process. Come January 2009 do not expect instant change.

ronald reagan? we were in  a severe economic situation, had people being held hostage in iran, gas shortage,.....

Any person in their right mind would run from what Obama is facing.  It's like they say "be careful what you wish for". LOL

Can't imagine why anyone would put themselves and their loved ones through this type of campaign and then the huge expectations to fulfill.

Guess that's the difference between the average person and a politician.

No kidding!! I kept looking at Cindy McCain and wondering how many times she wanted to get on a plane and head back to her nice home in Arizona. I hope she's getting a nice, long massage today.

Well I for one was VERY VERY dissapointed with the pick. I REALLY wanted McCain. He would've at least let our troops do some good in Iraq and Iran. And he has SO MUCH more expierence. MCCAIN SUPPORTER~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

I know it must have been tough a few times to sit on your hands as american politics can be a bit rambunctious. Many times, it resembles an all-out donnybrook.

BTW, I am still the same Ron. The same one that may have ticked you (in general) off before. But the election is over, a fait accompli. The question now is where do we go from here. Sometimes, you get what you ask for. And if it's change, well now, we have to direct that change.

Today's work day was like any other work day.

But sometimes, living in this country is a gas.

...I am also very excited for African Americans.  How amazing that a country that used to enslave this race has come so far as to elect an African American as their leader.  All African Americans should be proud of who they are and what they have accomplished.  This is what America is truly about - no matter who you are if you have the determination, luck, etc. you can be president.  For that I am proud.

I have to say that I am not just excited for African Americans, I am excited for all Americans. The election of our first black president speaks to how far we ALL have come. It says great things about our nation and the progress that we are all making. Lets just hope it continues.

I'm not altogether certain why we are still in Iraq.  Our troop strength in Afganistan is less than it should be, with so many troops in Iraq. And since Bin Laden is likely IN Afganistan, it would make more sense to be THERE.

I believe O'Bama mentioned that in one of the debates.

Again, the McCain I saw last night is the McCain that I USED to like.  But, the political machine got in the way and I couldn't bring myself to vote for him......and the VP choice just really made me sick.  All that said, however, I think this would have been a near impossible election for ANY republican.  People in this country are sick to death of what our government has done to us in the past 8 years.  We wanted a change.

It is a tremendous step forward for this nation to elect a man who isn't lily white, and I strongly believe that he was the right man, at the right time, with the right message.  He won't be perfect, no human can be.  But his roots are a heck of a lot closer to mine than any other candidate.

As an aside, I strongly suspect that the charity who will benefit from Palin's donated wardrobe, would have probably preferred the cash.
