Strange how nobody happened to mention that McCain picked up wife #2 at a bar/party and had an affair with her while wife #1 was recuperating from a traffic accident. He wasn't president, but still ....

I believe most of them have a lot of skeletons in their closets.

And I really believe that the Clinton thing was none of our business...however when he took on his role as President...he knew he had a reputation to uphold...and he also knew that there were a lot of people out there just looking to make him bad....and he stooped to give them what they were looking for. That tells us a lot I think.  It is a different world out there than it was years ago....in the days of Kennedy when everyone was working over time to cover up what they did wrong. So many of our presidents were hiding things that we found out so many years later.  But Clinton knew he was living in an age where the media was watching and reporting his every move. It was just plain stupid of him to let that happen.  We expect our athletes to be someone that our kids will look up to, how could not expect at least the same of our president?

Gee whiz,,,they have been working overtime on finding the skeletons in Obamas closet too....his aunt that is here illegally was the last one that I can think of. Who knows what will come up next.. I sure hope we don't ever have to go thru what we did with Clinton..... the whole world was watching that one.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Michelle Obama would put up with the same stuff that Hillary did. I also don't think Hillary would've put up with it if she hadn't had political aspirations of her own.

That is exactly what I thought when all that was going on and I wouldn't be surprised to see that Hilary has no more need for Mr.Bill and gives him the boot he deserved back then!

But on the other hand, many men have been unfaithful and women too and their spouses have stuck by them and forgiven them.  Hilary just never seemed like the forgiving type somehow. lol

    I agree totally.

And I hope that Obama is not the same kind of guy to lower himself to do the same things that Clinton did!

Ah, but see if the media hadn't made such a big deal about the cost of Palin's clothing, well then, I couldn't b*tch about it!

Yep, Clinton committed perjury and that is unforgivable, but, I do agree that the question shouldn't have been asked.  Public figure or not, his inability to keep it in his pants shouldn't have been public knowledge.  And, I suppose, technically, he didn't commit perjury.  He said that he had never had sex with the woman......teenagers don't consider oral sex to be "sex".  No penatration, no sex.

Glenda - he was pretty immature, but he was not a teenager Wink

Hows this for positive? At his press conference today, O'Bama said they really WANT to get a shelter dog for the girls. Maybe we ought to tell him about breed specific rescues?

On TOPIC!  Well, that would mean not meandering off into other things and that would be like boring!  LOL  What was the topic, BTW?

i guess i lok at things different that a lot of you do.  i think when you are in a position that requires people to look up to you, espect you, you have a moral obligation to act acordingly.   when i was in high school, a young male teacher was let go becaue he flirted "to openly" with high scool girls that chased him shamefully.  it was swickening to watch all those 15 year old sophmore girls sitting on his desk when us seniors went into civics class in the morning.   he was young, his first teching job, making him about 22 i guess.   thefinal straw wa when he was seen at th couny fai wthte sam 6-7 o hem fowin him rod.  he dd not etu rom hanksgivingholidas.

i think the girls were disgusting, but h should have put his foot down and had a talk with their parents or something.  but the thing was, he did act and live up to what is expected of a teacher.   i blieve the same would aply with a womanizing pastor.,  when you are suppose to be a leader, setting a good example, in public eye, you just do not act like clinton--or jfk--did...and keep the respet of most people.

like ron nd a few othrs i do not see where palin got her clothe or money to buy them from has anything to do with her ability or her personality.   There is an old saying CLOTHES MAKE THE MAN, ut i do not beiee it.  some of the best dressed people i have ever known have been total a$$es, where some ragged dressed people have ben wondrful friends, wonderful people.

as to mccain having an affair with his current wife while his first wife was geting over a car wrec, i relly don't know much about that, except it is a fact he had an affair and divorced his first wife and married this one.  maybe is first wife was a real witch.  my one brother's first wife was, and a nutso on top of that.  he stuck it out as long as he could.  so without knowing either of his wives, without knowing all the circumstances, i can not judge--altho i am certinly not in favor of a married man having an affair. especially if it is a person that is suppose to belooked up to, to be totlly respectd for his position, etc.

Sorry Gina - you're absolutely right.

I hope and trust that Obama is going to see this opportunity as more far-reaching than any other president has. There will be many young people and many people of color who are going to be looking up to him. Society seems to have lowered the bar in terms of what is acceptable. I hope he's going to raise that bar in terms of being a husband, father and leader. That will be a great thing for all of us.

bho's election has been positive for at least one industry.

People are doing that in advance of the possibility of more stringent gun controls and the possibilty that the 2nd Amendment could get repealed. And before someone says that can't happen, I have read Obama's own words on how he would like to interpret the Constitution not just as list of things the govt can't do, but also what the govt should do, especially in regard to individual prosperity. So, he's already proven himself to be a bit of a revisionist of the Constitution, at least in rhetoric. Whether he actually does anything about that now that he is elected, is another matter.

I don't own a gun right now but I fully respect the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms. I've thought of getting one for hunting. A Mossberg ATR 100 .308 or .270 with a scope. Yeah, that's a little big and I've known plenty of guys that hunt with a .243. But a .308 will knock a deer down at 600 yds. My friend, John, hunts during this part of the season with a .50 muzzleloader (black powder.) But even if I don't, others should be able to do so. But part of the reason for allowing the citizens to be armed is to also form ad hoc militias in case of invasion. It made sense during the days of the colonies, it makes sense now in the days of terrorism, domestic and foreign. And before someone says that won't ever be necessary, no on expected planes to be flown into the WTC and the Pentagon, either. And I don't think Obama should try to change the Constitution. It's the same document that made him president. "All men are created equal." If it works, don't fix it.

I can't help it if the media makes a big deal out Sarah Palin's clothes and doesn't have a problem with Obama's handmade tailored suits and what he spent on the Grant Park Party. That's out of my control. But if we can worry about Palin's clothes, we can worry about Slick Willie's "indiscretions."

On topic, I don't think Obama is going to be able to change a lot right away, other than trying to oust Lieberman from his chairmanship for the crime of being like McCain, i.e., willing to challenge his own party, if he even aims to to do that much. Politicians say whatever it takes to get elected. I expect he's going to do some good things. I also expect he's going to mess up a few times. Like any other president.

I know I keep getting told how "color blind" doesn't help minorities. But I can't help it. I'm color blind, I was raised that way, and it might be easier for me to soil my pants than to not be color blind. Sue me.

As for the line about how what Clinton did with Monica not being sex because of the specific act, would anyone here buy that excuse from their husband or boyfriend? I didn't think so.

In discussing the new dog, O'Bama explained the allergies and said that he'd really like to be able to find a shelter dog that would fit the bill, but that many of the dogs n shelters "are mutts, just like me".  I applauded, literally, the looking in shelters statement and chuckled at the mutt like me comment.

what's really cool is that now that this has been said on national TV (about the shelters) he'll be swamped with offers from shelters who do have an acceptable breed.  And he made it sound like the ONLY reason it isn't really acceptable to adopt a shelter dog would be a humans allergies.  So, to me, that's pretty cool, and perhaps will start a trend towards looking in shelters first.

Maybe wishful thinking......but we can dream.

We probably posted at the same time in different threads.

I've already predicted that he will do some things right. And this would be one of them, whether he buys from a legit breeder or finds a purebred in a shelter or rescue. Like Buster's questionaire, they could actually qualify more easily under some guidelines than I would.

Another note: Because of the financial crisis of the automakers and the tanking economy, someone asked Obama if he would offer advice to Bush. He said, "No, this country has one president at a time." Point being, he's not going to step into the White House until Jan. 20 or thereabouts. That is also decent.

And, I think he's going to learn to salute, even if he didn't feel like it before. CIC is a military rank. And when you are saluted by a junior officer, you WILL return salute. It is military protocol and he will need to follow that since he may not have a lot of friends in the military if he succeeds in cutting military spending. And, if he feels America is now a country worth honor, perhaps he will start saluting the flag out of his heart. But as CIC, he must salute the flag. Anyone here with family in the military knows that, when actively serving, not saluting the flag is not an option because the military is not a democracy. There is the Code and you will follow it.
