Changes after Spaying? (BTmomma)

 I've had 3 females spayed at 6 months old and never saw a difference in their attitude.

I have spayed every female dog and cat I have ever owned and have not had weight gain problems or and changes in behavior.  She will be happier IMO.  Not sure why your Vet thinks false pregnancy has anything to do with a dog being neurotic other than male chauvinist thinking!  Lots of dogs have false pregnancies and hopefully Bailey won't after she is spayed.

Is is possible to still have them after spayed?

I can't imagine that false pregnancies occur after spaying.  Although it does take a little while (about a month or so) for all of the hormones to dispel from the body.

The only problem I've ever had after spaying is elder incontinence.  No issues with behavior or weight gain.

 Emma was spayed before she left the litter. She is 5 years old, quite lean, active, and intense. Bailey's activity level may slow down, some, soon, but I would expect that whether she's spayed or not. She's still just a puppy, and will be maturing a LOT in the next year.

She will be happier -- false pregnancies can be really hard on them.  Most of the time when you hear about dogs with weight gain after spay/neuter it's simply because people then feed them more out of mis-guided "pity" or they don't take the dog's day to day needs into account.  Or they take that time to switch them to adult food and just assume an amount and never evaluate it carefully.

If she's less active *evaluate it* and feed her accordingly.  My vet usually tells people to feed them a bit less if they are staying on the same food.  As she leaves that killer young-puppy-adult stage she WILL slow down a bit and burn less.  So then you adjust.  But they don't gain just because they had surgery.

Thor was neutered after his third birthday and he didn't change a bit. The only major thing that happened is that he now weights 2 kilos more than he used to and I think the move and change of foods and everything had to do with it, so don't worry, Bailey will be the same. Give her some kisses from us!
