Emma has a bump

    Emma has a bump

It's very tiny, and it's under her skin. It moves around, so it's not like.... a bone, or anything. I noticed it, the other day. My mom felt it, today. I'm going to have a couple of other people feel it, and wait a week or two to see if it changes. It's on her chest, underneath her body, about  3 or 4 ribs up.

So, i-dog.... some "no more bump" thoughts, Emma's way? I'm hoping that I don't even have to deal with it, and it just goes away. She's 5, now. Teenie had several fatty bumps. One had to be removed. Our "old man" Toby has several, too. If it's anything, I'm hoping it's one of those. She's acting like it bothers her, but I can't tell if the bump bothers her or being messed with bothers her. She's funny about being poked at.

No bad bumps vibes coming from me & my crew.

Good vibes for Emma, coming her way!  I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Jennie; Jessie has several fatty bumps and the fact that Emma's moves around is a good sign. Sending no more bump vibes and healing thoughts your way.

    I think it's a 'beauty bump', Emma :P

It's sooo teeny, I don't even know if they could aspirate it. There's nothing on top of the skin, and the moving thing does make me think of a nothing bump. Still, though, being me, I worry. She's Emma, LOL. She has a history of scaring the holy heck out of me.

Of course, I'll probably get all worked up and have it removed, and be told that it's nothing.

We're keeping fingers & paws crossed that it's nothing major.

sounds like a cyst. Nothing to worry about, just make a note of how big it is and watch it for changes.

This sounds like me.  I tend to worry too much but luckily someone will usually talk sense into me before I get too worked up!  Hopefully it is just a cyst and nothing to worry about.

Generally, the doctor can put his or her hands on it and say, "It's nothing, just keep an eye on it" but until you've seen and felt a million of these yourself (and even then), it's best to let the doctor make that call.

I've got three lumpy dogs here - two I just discovered this week.  Maggie's got a couple lipomas (fatty cysts), no harm and they are in good places. Cord's got one on his scapula that I've known about forever - because funny thing I've got one in exactly the same place (right scapula, about two cm).  Lu's got a more scary looking one that we'll have looked at after MY surgery, because probably I'm going to ask them to excise it and get a pathology no matter what the doctor thinks it is.  It's in a bad place and I'm a little afraid there's a foreign body stuck in there.

Teenie had one at the base of her tail. It grew super fast, and it was on the underside of her tail, so I had it removed. It was pushing  parts that need to NOT be pushed. It turned out to be nothing, but it was scary waiting. I probably will take the girl to the doctor's in the next week or two, just to have him touch it. And next time she's under for whatever reason, I'll probably have it removed.

Jennie -- pick it up (that bit of skin) and feel UNDER it -- is it rooted (held by a string?) ?? If so -- vet a.s.a.p.

Most 'bad' bumps are rooted underneath -- that's not a foolproof thing but it will keep you from worrying.  Even moveable ones -- lift them up between thumb and first finger and feel under them -- if they are somehow 'tied' that's the worry one.

*grabbing dog, who is due for bloodwork, anyways, to feel for roots*

Erm... no. It's almost a part of the skin. When I lift the skin, the bump just comes with it. No attachment to anything but skin, that I can feel. It is a teeny bump, though. Like the size of a bb.

    Dog who needs bloodwork anyway??

Billy looks up -- HE's at home, *I* am at work but HE is the one getting bloodwork done this evening -- I swear, Jennie, he felt that!!!  Nooooooooooo, Billy-boy -- it's Emma she grabbed, not you!!"

(That would make him grump -- he'd LIKE to be grabbed by Jennie!! LOL)

Sigh of relief??  Dr. Bailey taught me that --

I would like to grab Billy, too!!! LOL Silly Billy Boy.

Well, i-dog did something good for her, because I grabbed her this morning, and put her on the grooming table to have a friend (who has a LOT more dog experience than I do) feel it. I was going to take her to the vet this afternoon, to be sure it was ok. The bump is gone. I cannot find it. It was there, and now it is not. I guess she's fine. She *still* needs bloodwork, LOL. I've gotta make her an appointment, for that. It's time to run the senior panel. She had a little, baby one probably 6 months ago. Nothing's wrong, it's just time.
