Help--What the heck is THIS??? (sillysally)

...in Jack's mouth??  We just discovered it this morning (but that doesn't mean that it just appeared--I'll admit that I don't mess with that part of his mouth much.  I have an appointment with the vet on Monday afternoon.  Honestly, I'm freaking out a bit that it could be the "c" word.  Poor Jack has had so many issues in his young life--the elbow, the intestine surgery, etc---he just doesn't need anything else......Sad

Anyway, here are the photos--what does it look like to you guys?

Honestly I have no idea...my first thought was "can dogs bite their lips?" because it looks like that sort of lump I get if I bite my lip, hard.  But I do think it's good to have it looked over by a vet just in case. :)

My first thought was it looked like he bit his lip. I would get it checked out but I wouldn't stress it yet.

Suppose he could have--although if it's a bite then it was likely Sally--they play rough.  The round part feels hard though.......

Maybe an ulcer?  Or maybe he had something stuck in his teeth which was rubbing it??

How old is Jack?  If he is still and pup to adolescent it could easily be a Juvenile Papiloma wart they are not harmful and the cure is more simple than you would think.  If he is an adult it could be anything from the suggested minor mouth injury to an alergic reaction to something he has eaten or chewed on .

I think I see what looks like a puncture wound toward the bottom. Maybe an accident of play. A slightly infected swelling. Having the vet look at it can't hurt.

I think Ron is righ about the possible puncture wound but  He is in the range to still have a JPV wart. They can be very alarming in appearance, starting off as a simple wound and developing in to something that looks a bit like cauliflower !!   SHould it be that they are easy to treat so please do not be alarmed. Just have the vet chek it out. If it is a simple mouth would they also heal amazingly fast and a vet is nice to have to confirm and then give you some antibiotics to prevent any gum issues from developing that could mess up his teeth.  It is not even one of the more expensive antibiotics needed.

I would not panic just watch it and have avet take a peek if it is not showing signs of getting better by monday....

might be a wart. If you want to be proactive if it IS one...start him on some L Lysine 500-1000mg per day...they sell the tabs at GNC..mine eat them like candy LOL. Turns a month or two long issue into one of a couple weeks.

I don't like the fact that you said it was hard -- It could be a bite, it could have resulted from play but again I doubt it would be hard.  So frankly -- because anything oral can be nasty I'd go to the vet Monday. Just *because* if for no other reason.  The L-Lysine isn't a bad idea, butr I wouldn't wait before having him seen.
