Penny's New Sister!!

    Penny's New Sister!!

We have some very big news. We have decided to add a new little girl to our family! It's a big of a long story as to how we got her actually.

A friend of ours had come over to visit and she had a little Pomeranian with her that she had just picked up before coming to our house. She also fosters dogs for the same rescue that we adopted Penny from. She said that she had a little Chihuahua that had been rescued from a puppy mill in South Dakota, at home that she was fostering with intent to adopt, but it just wasn't working out. She'd been at her house for a week and rarely left her crate, peed in the house, wasn't socialable, etc. So, she ended up getting this Pomeranian instead from the newspaper. -eye roll- But, we talked about it and decided that we could take this little 7 year old Chihuahua and atleast foster her and socialize her, since it seemed like no one wanted to spend enough time with her to get her out of her shell. She'd been bounced around to a few foster homes and she was so scared.

Well, we have her all right! And we're definately not giving her back. We're fostering her for a few days just to see if Penny gets along with her- Penny has never had a sibling in the 4+ years we've had her- and then we could decide to adopt her. They do growl/snarl at each once in a while, but for the most part, they just ignore each other. One thing I was really worried about was that Penny would be marking her territory, but thank goodness neither dog has had any accidents!! We got her on Wednesday and everyday she has been progressing more and more. We're weaning her off her crate, she only sleeps in it at night. We've given her a dog bed instead in the kitchen- which she loves. She's housetrained and is such a little cute love bug! She's doing wayyy better than I expected, I don't know WHAT they were doing with her at the other foster homes. She's been doing her business outside, even going for walks, exploring the house, playing, etc. She came with the name Debbie, but we've renamed her Daisy.

    So, here's lil Daisy =]:

Good for you and Daisy too!Big SmileI've had a few here that others said had potty problems .It's not rocket science, just quit overfeeding and provide some supervision for crying out loudConfusedDon't forget to shower Penny with extra attention so she doesn't get jealous.
