Mindless Chatter - Monday

    Mindless Chatter - Monday

I just had a very odd experience.  On top of everything else I have to deal with right now, my vacuum cleaner threw its toys out of the pram over the weekend and just stopped working.  This is not OK in a house that a) is inhabited by a labrador and b) is in the middle of renovations.  So I spent this morning looking through a couple of catalogues and narrowing down choices based on what we need in a vacuum, then off we went to a shopping centre that had the stores both catalogues were from.  We went to the slightly cheaper one first (as you do) and find that the 2 models we were most interested in were, apparently, out of stock - none were on the shelves.  So I asked an employee who said he'd have a look in the back to see if they had either of them back there.  He took note of the item numbers and walked off.

He came back to tell me that they didn't have either of them, but they did have several of a different model by the manufacturer of one of the ones I liked.  He brought it out and showed it to me, and it had everything we needed.  In fact, it was a better vacuum than either of the ones I'd been looking at and if there had been a box or display model for one out on the shelf, I'd have looked at it.  He scanned the code and told me the price - $40 cheaper than the one I thought I wanted.  Great! Sold!  So we take it and come home, with me a bit confused as to why they didn't have this model on display in the first place, but oh well.  I look through the catalogues again, and the first weird thing is that they sold it to me for HALF the price it was selling for at the other store, which is only slightly more expensive, but even weirder, the store we bought it from doesn't appear to sell it at all.  It wasn't on display and it's not in their catalogue, or I'd have looked at it when I was narrowing down choices this morning.  Very, very strange LOL.

Oh well, I like it.  I am off to vacuum my sofa with my new Turbo Brush Pet Hair Remover attachment.  Big Smile

Our vacuum cleaner is nick-named Gimpy. We've replaced the code twice, the little tube thingy once, and I broke one of the wheels in a fit of anger and in turn bent the axel. We had it fixed....now it's barely holding on....LOL

Today I have successfully argued and provine my point with my ex. Thats about it. I'm going to find lunch here shortly, and then figure out why all my friends in public school have the day off.....

Have today off so Lily and I are cleaning. I'm about 4 loads of laundry in. lol I can't believe we have soo many clothes! I also had to wash the sheets because Ben has the flu and sweat like he ran a marathon last night. Gross, I slept on the couch and now my neck hurts!

I'm off to visit with my sister in law and my newest neice! She was born on Saturday at 9:30 pm. 6 pounds 11 oz, 18 1/2 inches long! Her name is Lilly. She's a little peanut! I forgot my camera when we were at the hospital so I'll get some pictures tonight.

I dread going to work tomorrow! :(

Kate - congrats on your new Ben-hair-sucker-upper!  It sounds like you were meant to have that one for whatever reason.

MissT - your family totally needs a new vacum!  You go to private school?  So did I and I wondered the same thing many times since all my friends went to public school.

Lily's Mum - Congrats on being Lilly's Aunt!  She sounds like a cute peanut and we definitely need pictures! Wink

I had a really busy weekend and now work is almost an oasis from the madness.  My cousin and her four kids came over for brunch yesterday and her husband "recalibrated" my guitar hero III game/guitar!!!  Now I have to learn to play it all over again!  I guess he thought he was doing me a favour.

On the bright side they agreed to take Monroe for us while we have to be away for a week, Morrison will still have to be boarded as they can't handle his energy.

Sort of....I got into some trouble last year in public school, I was suspended, so first semester this year I am doing online. It's still a forum of public school, but minus the human contact. A daily remeinder for me to mind my P's and Q's and not to go looking for some trouble...

Sorry that you'll have to board Morrison, I bet he won't like that...

M&M's mom, I am thinking of you and the dog situation.  My coworker is dog-sitting her boyfriend's 1yr old lab while the BF is in Iraq, and is threatening to send it off to the ranch until January when her boyfriend returns.  He's too much work for her and does not respect her, she says - she has other dogs, too.  She is also a questionable dog-owner, imo - she's been drugging the dog w/Benedryl every night and started with an e-collar (which she calls the shock collar) so that he'll mind her.  She's clearly a short-cutter and I'm feeling really badly for this dog, based on what she says.  I've tried all the "frozen kong, tug-a-jug, puzzle toys" suggestions and recommended more exercise and perhaps some training so she can build a bond where the dog will respect her, but it's not going over well.

Actually, where we board M&M is also their day care so it is a fun, kennel free, place with lots of people hanging with them and a set routine of activities.

    Here is their website: http://woofdah.com/

Morrison really likes it there and Monroe likes it for a few days.  My cousin helping out by taking Monroe will help us with the expense and Monroe will be more comfortable with her.  He loves her and was all over her yesterday when they came to visit.  It's really more of a financial relief for us.  We don't want to be away for a week but my Mum is getting ordained in Halifax the weekend before American Thankgiving when our presence is "requested" in Delaware.

LOL seems like it, doesn't it?  I loooove it, it's very very effective.

I need to get up at 5 am tomorrow, and for some stupid reason I promised DH that out of sympathy I won't drink coffee to wake up because he's nil-by-mouth after midnight tonight and I don't think he could handle the strain of watching me drink coffee in front of him.  Ack.

I just found out I got an A in Financial Accounting.  If anyone watched America's Funniest Home Videos yesterday, there was a baby who would do the "Smarty Pants Dance" when she got the correct name of states on a map.  I feel like doing the Smarty Pants Dance! lol

Last week was NOT my week!  On top of being sick, I've misplaced the new proof of insurance for my car and I apparently left the windshield wipers I purchased at the checkout, so I'm out $40 for those AND have to spend another $40 to get them back.  Oh, and I let my vet charge me $60 for drugs I can get free at my grocery store.

I did something to my left had right before I got Nikon and it still hurts really bad.  I can't open pill bottles, pop open my shampoo, pull a glove over my hand, clutch something, etc without pain.  The weird thing is that it never swelled.  I called my Dr. last week only to find she was moving to a new practice that day.  Great.  NSAIDs don't help b/c I had a light bit of flu and my period this past week so I've been taking NSAIDs for almost two weeks to deal with headaches and cramps, still my hand/thumb/wrist kills.  Ironically typing is one thing that doesn't hurt at all.  DH said carpal tunnel but I don't think so b/c it was the type of thing that happened one day and has hurt bad every since.  Maybe a ligament or tendon thing?  I dunno.  Don't really have time or money to deal with it right now.

OMG I have been out all day and clearly B has napped the whole time - PSYCHO dog!  He just destroyed a t-shirt in record time.  I'll have to think of something to do with him or he will drive me nuts for hours.

It is freezing here today - one gets very spoiled in a climate in which the sun shines 300 days a year or so LOL

I really am amazed at all the financial stuff still going on - usually I have a pretty good understanding of what is happening and why but I can't wrap my head around this at all.

Speaking of vacuum cleaners, add me to the list of oh-so-happy Dyson owners. And GOOD RIDDANCE to the blasted Oreck. I vacuumed the living room, entry and hall with the Oreck. Then I went over the same area with the Dyson. There was 2-3" of SOLID dirt, sand, dust, and dog hair in the bottom of the canister. YUCK! I was impressed and completely grossed out at the same time.

    ...switching gears...

Is there such a thing as degenerative brain disease? If so, I think I have it. I've just been feeling so... dumb lately. I've never been good at writing, I guess that's why I'm a designer, and can express myself in color, photos, type styles, etc. The company I work for is redesiging their website, and I had to fill out a little questionaire about why I like working for the company, blah blah blah. I felt like a 3rd grader trying to come up with answers. Don't get me wrong, it's a great company to work for, but I just have a hard time putting my thoughts/feelings into words. {on the down-low} DH & I are thinking of possibly moving next year, and the thought of having to write a cover letter makes me dizzy.

I also used to be so up-to-date with computers and software, troubleshooting, etc. Ever since Mac updated to OSX I've felt completely behind. I rarely have problems, but when I do I look through forums and I can hardly understand 1/3 of their answers.

I don't know, I guess I've been feeling really burnt out lately. I never thought having a baby would suck the life out of me like it has.

Oh, and Karen, do you really mean "freezing" as in below 32 degrees? I'm looking out my window at about an inch of snow on the ground. *sigh*

Tonight I think it will be our first night of 32 or below - but we never get any decent snow - a half inch here or there - I think in the 4+ yrs we've been here our max has been about 4 inches - I actually miss a good snowfall now and then

Today when I left the house it was super sunny and warming up nicely (frost on the ground this morning) and then when I left work at 4 ish it was like 45*, dark gray overcast sky and strong northern winds so it was *fresh*.

It seems to have turbocharged the mutt though - since I've arrived home we have played fetch for 30 minutes, did obedience training for two 15 minute sessions and just been wrestling/playing with cuz for another 15 minutes or so.  Oh and he completely destroyed an XL tshirt.  We did a 3 mile run this morning.  I'm out, LOL.  He is however staring at me - ready for what comes next Confused

and Janice I have never had the joy of having a baby BUT from what I understand it is so draining that sleep deprivation and natural stress do negatively impact your thinking and concentration abilities.  It will pass as you get more rest and Willa is a little older!  Hang in there you CAN do it Big Smile

I asked for Santa to bring me a Dyson in his sleigh - but apparently they may be too heavy.

Anyone feel like dishing out boyfriend advice? It's not something I'm completely comfortable putting on the forum, but I need some outside perspective.

I just finished cleaning up Hamburger Helper - yuk. I hate that stuff, but BF and my bro love it, so I relent every once in a while. And, it's cheap. LOL.
