What is your favorite kind of dog?

    All :)

I especially like the big breeds.

I'm rather fond of mutts. [:)

The only purebreds I've been around for any significant period of time are boxers, a siberian husky, and a pitty. I'm not so in love with any of those breeds. Not to say I don't love them, I just don't love them more than others.

My favorites looks-wise are goldens, papillons, Aussies, huskies, and Australian cattle dogs.

My favorite kind of dog is loving, outgoing, people oriented (I'm not jealous, I like a dog who loves everyone), wagging tail, goofy, playful, and full of energy.  I'm partial to flat-coats at the moment since it's all I have my mind on (if all goes well we'll have one next year!)  I tend toward the retriever breeds...

The Siberian Husky. Strikingly beautiful, with awesome speed, it is, for it's size and weight, one of the fastest, strongest dogs in the world. Bred for over 1,000 years to pull hard and run fast in the harshest conditions on the planet, with average winter temps of -70 F, on very little food. Unloaded, the can run between 30 and 40 mph with a low profile double suspension gait. And intelligent and a bit prone to not listen. They must have this to a degree in order to spot a problem on a trail before the human can spot it and avert an accident. Yet, of gentle, human-loving temperment, it slept with the children of the village, being both a pillow and a protector. As a breed, it retained less neotenous features. It's ears are usually erect, it howls more than it barks, retains much of the wolf coloring and markings, with the exception of pie-bald in some. They will work themselves to exhaustion if you let them. Loyal, with a huge heart, and there's no day that's too cold.

I have to say, I like these dogs, too. There was one living in my old neighborhood. Abandoned in her backyard, she didn't get any attention or excersize. No proper brushing, just food and water. I'd walk her everyday and her strength was incedible. Her fur cushy and soft, just like you said, as if it was a pillow. These breeds are definetly lovely dogs.

Cattle Dogs!!! And then Border Collies and pibbles, and I'm really starting to like Catahoulas as well. :) My next addition will likely be an ACD for performance. I want a little red boy to go with my blue "texas heeler" girl. lol

Parsons!  I will never be without one again.  They are small, but sturdy.  Independent, but love to learn.  Neither of mine are hyper and that's how they should be.  They are energetic, but also lazy.  They would much rather lay at my side than be hyper, bouncy dogs like people think they are.  The terrier groupi in general is my favorite. I like all of them.  I also love sighthounds because of thier personalities.  I really like some of the herding breeds too and probably will get a Border Collie when I move into a bigger place.

Having owned now 3 of them, Irish Setters are a favorite of mine.  But Brittany, Springers, English Cocker are high on my list too.  I love basically all hunting dogs.  I am a sporting breed person by heart.  Easy to train-great with kids-very social-stay young at heart for a long time and the most attractive to my eyes.  I don't hunt but to watch a hunting dog run thru the woods it just makes my heart sing with joy.  Its a thing of beauty to see any dog doing what it loves to do.

My favorite breed always has been and always will be the Poodle. All sizes, though now that I am getting older I prefer the little guys.I also  love the Chinese Crested. I especially love the Powderpuff. I currently own both these breeds. I also love Chihuahuas. Papillions. Pomeranians. For large breeds, I love Dobermans. I used to have one she was great. lived to be 14. I have pretty much decided to stay with small dogs now but if I ever got a big dog again it would be a Dobie. My next dog will be either a Toy Poodle, a Powderpuff or a Chihuahua.
