What is your favorite kind of dog?

What is your favorite kind of dog and why?

My favorite kind of dog is a pit bull because of their true love and care for their owners. Their protection for their family and love for the people they know is incredible. Their looks of toughness and the way they really are inside, full of heart and loyalty always makes me smile.

I also love Neapolitan Mastiffs, their jowls and happy-go-lucky, okay-okay-whatever attitude is what I like about them for some reason. Some people would think they are ugly monsters that lumber around their 100 pounds of lips...but they're awesome and have big teddy bears....that drool alot!!

The bearded collie is the dog I will someday own! Someday[8|] I just love their clown attitude so bouncy and friendly. Sure they have a ton of shaggy fur but that is anouther reason I just love the breed, they even look friendly, who could not love a beardie. [:)]

My favourite dog is the shikoku. I'm getting one in a year or two. I love how intelligent they are. Like... real intelligence. They are so quick to learn, persistent, agile, strong... it's perfect for what I want (I want to do all sorts of doggie activities). Plus, their odd behaviour is so entertaining. I love all Japanese dogs for these reasons, but the shikoku is just the right size and to me, the most beautiful of the Japanese dogs. Plus, the shikoku is more submissive to its handler and loyal than the shiba, which is one thing I'd like to see.

Japanese dogs are so smart. I was reading a story recently about a guy who left his kai ken in the car while he went into the store. The dog figured out how to open the car door, then went into the store and found him!

Pibbles Pibbles and more Pibbles!!!  These dogs have gotten a bad name considering how lovable they are.  They are the most loyal and lovable dogs that I have ever had the pleasure of owning!  They may look big and mean but that's just their outside.  Inside they are full of love and compassion.  These dogs would put their life on the line to save their owner and they wouldn't think twice about doing so.

I so agree with the pits. I have a thing for the 'under dog'. They are amazing dogs, and I would really love to own one someday. They are my favorite breed to work with at the shelter because they are so inteligent!
I also have a thing for the spunky aussies and labs. And the biggest babies - the mastiff. =]
I really don't have one favorite I guess!

I love Mastiffs, too. I met one at one of my brother's baseball games and the owner asked if her dog could come run with my our (my friend was there, too) dogs. Well, he was such a spunky little guy! He was nearly as tall as me, over 120 pounds, and guess how old the big booger was? Only 8 MONTHS OLD. Well, we decided to play soccer and he ran as fast as he could over and the whole ball was the size of his mouth. The giant pup was already 3+ times as big as my Boxer!

Also, when I went camping there was a big brindle boy, probably around 100 pounds that had the most wagging, thwipping, goin' tail that could knock you right over on your butt!!!

    I love Mastiffs...giant teddy bears [:D]

Shih Tzu!! For one thing, I'm in love with their little Ewok faces. [;)] Their personalities are perfect for me too- calm, laid back, lovable but slightly independent. I also really like their small but sturdy size and their non-shedding coat.

Edited to add- I also really Toy Poodles, Japanese Chin and Shar Pei. It looks like 3 out of 4 of my favorite breeds are Asian. I like their natural reserve.

The Siberian Husky. Strikingly beautiful, with awesome speed, it is, for it's size and weight, one of the fastest, strongest dogs in the world. Bred for over 1,000 years to pull hard and run fast in the harshest conditions on the planet, with average winter temps of -70 F, on very little food. Unloaded, the can run between 30 and 40 mph with a low profile double suspension gait. And intelligent and a bit prone to not listen. They must have this to a degree in order to spot a problem on a trail before the human can spot it and avert an accident. Yet, of gentle, human-loving temperment, it slept with the children of the village, being both a pillow and a protector. As a breed, it retained less neotenous features. It's ears are usually erect, it howls more than it barks, retains much of the wolf coloring and markings, with the exception of pie-bald in some. They will work themselves to exhaustion if you let them. Loyal, with a huge heart, and there's no day that's too cold.

My favorite breed is the Irish Setter - shocker!! They are such great dogs - very intelligent, friendly, lovng, athletic, and goofy in a good way. [:)] They are stubborn but that just makes training more rewarding! :)

Shih Tzu's. The best for me. Quiet, clean, no shed, playful, sweet, no worries if someone pets her because she is always good, they are gorgeous, such beautiful hair and faces. Smart and loves to learn. Good with other pets, children etc. Easy to take on trips, in the car in a carseat, a loving heart.

Of course, I  love my little bichon[;)]
