Dogs 101

I watched it last night b/c they talked about GSDs.  I think they actually did a good job, made a good point of illustrating how versatile the breed is and that they are a great family dog.

 Yeah, I like the show. They had corgi's on so I had to call my brother to tell him to flip on the TV :)

 Well I think Joker didnt get the memo where he is supposed to be almost odorless!! Because he is far from being odorless right now and I gave him a bath 3 days ago.

Yah, I watched the first episode when they featured the Labrador. I thought they did a good job.

 Did you see last night when they said the top 3 biters are:

1. GSD

2. Chow

3. Golden retrievers (huh?)

 I was shocked also when they said Golden Retriever.

I've watched 2 or 3 episodes....It's fairly interesting, I think they do a pretty good job with most of the breeds.

Jewlieee - I have no idea where they got Golden's from as one of the top biters....Goldens are service dogs, right?

 Maybe its because goldens are so abundant?

Yes, goldens make great service dogs.

Top 10 breeds most likely to bite....nnever mentioned a Golden. It may just be this one site thou....

Goldens *are* top biters in a couple of municipalities, but I don't think they are in any national statistics. (as per AKC legal seminar about anti-dog laws & BSLI went to back in June. :P)

I was not at ALL impressed with the show. They said that chihuahuas have 'no health problems' and featured a fake Chih service dog. 

 I watched it last night for the corgis. I thought it was a good take on the corgi, it made me want to do agility with Tootsie. Corgis are the best.

I wouldn't believe the show or that site. There is a good list of dog bites by breed that are actual statistics- not heresay. On the actual dog bite report, dobermans were actually VERY low on the list. It was like 11 from 1986-2005 (i don't know the exact #s, but somewhere around there) 

I'll see if i can dig up that site... 

anyway, i DVR'd dogs 101, and liked it. I loved seeing the black GSDs on that episode. My new favorite animal planet show is k9 cops though. WOW! 

ETA: this isn't the original one, but at least it has where they got their info. However, i do not like "pit bull type" "husky type", etc because that could be several different breeds. anyway,
