    concerts that you've been to...

Going to concerts is one of my favorite things ever. Because of my age, i've missed out on a lot of good ones. It pained me in the 90s when i was too young to drive to miss people like alice in chains, soundgarden etc, and i missed jimmy page and the black crowes too. Feel free to share some good concerts that you've been to!

I've seen Dave matthews band about 7 times, that's my record.

i've also seen: Allman Brothers (obviously not the original, but still amazing), Tom Petty, Black Crowes, Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver x2, Wilco x 2, Foo fighters, red hot chili peppers, montgomery gentry x 3, john michael montgomery x 2, dwight yoakum x 2, charlie daniels band, phil vassar, george straight, disturbed, lit, sevendust, corey smith, linkin park, 3 doors down (don't really like, mainly went for their opener, Tantric), john mayer...

I feel like i'm forgetting some important ones...

My favorite concert ever was STP and breaking benjamin just because the day was beautiful and the venue was perfect, lots of shade no mud and everything. My first concert was freakers ball in kc, mo where I went to see Marilyn Manson, I was soo excited and then it ended after a few MM songs and the riot ppl came out with their shields and mace and whatnot. I couldn't even say how many bands I've seen, Korn, Slipknot(twice), STP, Manson(twice), Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach(was REALLY bored), Mushroomhead, Tool.

Concerts are so expensive in Toronto that I end up going to hear bands that I know I really like. Sadly I know I am missing out on some really good shows, especially the more current bands. This list will probably give my age away - hint, I'm old. LOL! but so are the band members.

Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon X3 (favorite concerts), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Platters, Madonna, Rod Stewart, The Stone X3, Bat Out of Hell Concert, Van Morrison, Bet Middler. I would have loved to see Queen. Oh and by the way you couldn't drag me to hear Celine.

I've seen Kid Rock 2 times. And Montgomery Gentry when they came to Hodgenville.

I have to say Disney makes things more possible down here -- in fact, all of the theme parks down here (Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Busch and even the smaller ones like Cypress Gardens and Silver Springs) do concert series where you can see a concert 'free' while at the park at certain times.

Now granted - it's particularly designed to draw the 'oldies' crowd (ME ME ME) and the country/western crowds among others (not me).  But we've seen some awesome ones:

Arlo Guthrie (and family and yep, I've heard ALL of Alice's Restaurant LIVE),  "Hermans Hermits" (anyone under 45 is going "who????";) and Peter Noone I've seen many times, as with Paul Revere & the Raiders, the Turtles (those first three like 7 or 8 times), Grand Funk Railroad, Mitch Ryder, the Pointer Sisters, Sister Sledge, Chubby Checker (3 times I think), Statler Brothers, Willie Nelson (another superb concert) and a zillion more.

We saw Smokey Robinson last winter at Universal -- 2 hours plus and man that guy had FUN doing that open-air concert.

Drawbacks?  You stand or sit on the ground or bring your own chair in venues that allow it cos it's open air.  But it's a lot of fun.

Big ventue "paid" concerts?  Still lots -- favorites being Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart (twice), Elton John and Billy Joel (teir Face-to-Face tour was awesome). Even saw the Monkees (well, Davey, Mickey and Peter but no Mike) at the House of Blues.

On Feb. 29, I've already got a dinner/concert booked for us to see Arlo Guthrie in a totally different venue up in Mt. Dora (Mount where?? *grin*)

Denise -- another YOU may have seen/heard - that we get to see pretty regularly at the Hard Rock Live is "Classic Albums Live".

Now this is a concert of a whole different kind -- it's a huge bunch of studio musicians who get together as various casts and do "Classic Albums" note for note.  For example -- Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolution, the White Album, Abbey Road of the Beatles.  Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", "The Wall" and one other (David's the PF fan), The Who's "Who's Next", and they do Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" (that was a stellar one we saw also -- and they do the Eagles, AC/DC, Led Zepplin and others).

When they did Sgt. Pepper they had Orlando Philharmonic with them (yes, listen to it sometime -- it's got full orchestral backup in there).  But it's TONS of fun with these old albums and they go to huge lengths to make it sound exactly like that album.  They're based in Canada, but the love playing the Hard Rock venues and other places.  NOT EXPENSIVE -- like generally it's like $25 a person here in the states (some are more expensive depending on what outside help they have to get locally).

I *think* they're based out of Toronto -- but gosh they're good so any of you up there should catch them if you can.  It's really good.

I used to love going to concerts but the place they hold them hear has horrible acoustics, so it's a big disappointment. I've seen:

Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones, Hall and Oates, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Phil Collins, Genesis, Billy Idol, Heart, Eric Clapton and the Eagles. I'd love to see Paul McCartney and there are a lot of new bands I'd love to see.

UGH i hate being young! I know it might be a little dorky for my age, but i am in love with Hall and Oates...i have rich girl as a ring tone.

i also grew up on Eric Clapton...my Bf got to see him in San Antonio about a year ago, i was envious!

The problem is that folks like McCartney charge SO much for concerts that most people can't see them.  The human element gets lost when it's all big movie screens, etc.

When we saw Billy Joel/Elton John in that Face-to-face tour it had been postponed (because Billy was drying out somewhere for a while) but probably the BEST part of the concert was seeing these two mega "stars" with such incredibly diverse backgrounds (and one hetero and one gay) but who have SUCH a solid friendship that it comes thru on stage.  Sir Reggie (Elton) was more than a bit protective of Billy Joel that night and it truly made it wonderful to see these guys not just as performers but as people.

When we saw Willie Nelson it was up at Silver Springs -- and pretty danged informal.

I was never a mega Arlo Guthrie fan when I was young -- I mean, yeah -- "Alice's Restaurant" was a hippie anthem way back when, but it is so incredibly neat to see him NOW.

Why?  Because his Dad wrote some of America's best loved PATRIOTIC songs (and Woodie Guthrie was a rebel way back when!!) -- but how many of you that are saying "Who is HE?" have sung "This Land is Your Land" IN SCHOOL??

Woody Guthrie wrote that.  And seeing Arlo and HIS kids (and his GRANDkids) singing it en masse on stage is pretty danged kewel.  Arlo Guthrie was ... well, in Arlo's words "Woodstock?  Remember Woodstock?  er ... I hate to tell you, but if you say you REMEMBER Woodstock then you probably weren't really there, because most of us who WERE there were so ... well, let's just say I don't remember much!!!"

He was the one Mom shuddered about and lectured and said "Don't buy HIS records - he's just a drug addict".  He was.  And yet he travels with his family (daughter, Sara Lee, and her husband have their own group, son, Abe, has his own etc.) but he doesn't just do his own music (altho Disney always makes sure he does "City of New Orleans";) but he does one whole set of his Dad's stuff.

But that's a cool rock'n'roll legacy -- three generations on stage singing music from the fourth?

But it's fun down here cos so many musicians/groups actually live down here or were 'from' here (Matchbox Twenty was an Orlando group before it was kewel *grin*) so sometimes you can just kinda trip over these folks and not even appreciate how good they are.  I'd love to see some of the ones you've seen -- and I'm not sure if Hall 'n Oats are still touring, but that WOULD be an awesome concert wouldn't it?

I haven't been to a concert in ages.  The ones I have been to are pretty crappy...well most of them.

Lets see, The first one I remember going to was Candy...anyone even remember her?  She came to my home town which is not big so we don't see many people.  Um..Stompin Tom, lol, also came here.  Tiffany in the peg.  I went to the Bryan Adams Rock the Nation concert in the Peg which had 5 bands besides himself.  One was Jeff Heely, that was the a best part, I've loved him since Roadhouse.  Jovi in the Peg, way to far back though.

Oh and the one we wanted to go see, but couldn't get the time off?  The Wiggles!  LMAO!  Such a dissappointment!

i was wondering if he was related to Woody Guthrie. I actually have listened to quite a bit of woody guthrie...mostly because one of my favorite bands (wilco) have covered a lot of his songs, so i kinda checked him out.

Oh-oh, I forgot 2 - INXS and Aerosmith. Both excellent concerts but the Aerosmith concert was scary rowdy.

We saw Bruce Springsteen at a soccer stadium in Germany and he'd just released Borni in the USA. There were tons of military folks there but mostly Germans and they went wild. They had water canons behind the stage and had to use them a couple times to keep the crowd from rushing the stage. I was super glad that I wasn't on the lawn that day.

Hall and Oates was the first concert we saw in Germany and they were at the height of their career. I just remember that everyone stood up on their seats the moment they came out and never sat back down. That meant we had to stand on our seats too and I was pretty sure we were going to all go down like dominos.
