Irena Farm Is Moving!

    Irena Farm Is Moving!

As some of you know, this location is a piece of heaven and we've been very privileged and blessed to live here the last three years.  But, we do not own it and our landlord is extremely adamant that he will never consider selling.

So we were very excited when we got a chance to arrange a lease option on a small nearby property!  It's really, really starting from scratch compared to the "plug and play farm" we have here, but I'm ready to do that now.  And it's going to be half the rent that we pay here.  AND there are many chances for the future, from possible lease or purchase of surrounding land, to clearing our own, to expanding and renovating the lovely old farmhouse there.  I'm very excited!

Trampoline and dog don't come with it, though they are both on the property - they are owned by our closest church friends, who will be our new next door neighbors!  Our kids and their kids are all best friends, and we both home school, so it's going to be really cool for them.

We'll still have a pond - small, hidden, and someday I hope, pretty.  I'm calling it Jewel Pond.  I'm going with the vision here.  Big Smile  One of the first things I want to do is get the sheep up there to push back the undergrowth and vining stuff.  Then it really will be nice.

The NC summer get together is still ON.  It's should be even nicer, in fact.  The grounds are very gracious and we'll have the whole thing fenced off by then.

Wow!  What a place!  Congratulations!!!  When do you move??  I imagine moving a farm would be quite an undertaking!

Congrats! Good luck with the move!

Huge congratulations!! That place looks amazing. I'd love to see pictures of the interior someday. I'm really excited for you and hope it works out exactly as you dream it will.

     Thank you!

I'm putting together my photos of the inside.  It's well kept up and in terrific condition - hardwoods throughout which have been covered (are covered still in most places) with wall-to-wall, so they are pristine.  The kitchen is a country eat-in deal - I've always wanted that so I'm very excited!

It will take us about two months to move, so we're starting now.  It's vacant and we have permission to start putting up fence, which is the first step.  It's only about half a mile from here so it won't be too bad moving.  Just redoing the fence, that will be the biggest job.

I've been seriously thinning down our junk the last few years - we actually had to leave stuff behind when we moved from the last place because we simply ran out of time and money to make more trips.  I didn't want to do that again!  By "junk" I mostly mean farm stuff.

In the middle of all this I'm going to have a major surgery - I just had an exploratory done to figure out this problem and come up with a solution.  Lovely!  So I'll be limited to sorting and boxing up little stuff.  It's just as well, but it's my least favorite part of moving.  Bleh.  I like moving furniture and painting and cleaning and stuff.  Doctor says no way!  This will be fun!

If only dogs could be trained to pack and unpack. . . .

From one wonderful spot to another - you're very lucky!  The house screams Americana to me (that's a good thing) and the land is stunning.  The sheep will have Jewel Pond living up to it's name in no time.  Congrats!

Congrats!  What a wonderful old home, those are my fav.   We got lucky the same way, rented for 1 year, bought it w/ the 1st year rent as down payment.  We were so lucky.  We have been here 18 years.   Good luck!

Sorry about the surgery but I'm willing to bet that you have many friends that would be more than happy to help out with the move. If we could get a bunch of idoggers together, we'd have you settled in a matter of hours Wink.

I was just going to say - Becca shoot me an email or pm is there is anything I can help out with - seriously Mondays and Wednesdays are bad but most other days I can arrange things.

It looks wonderful and I'm sure we could tie some boxes to Bugsy and he would happily trot them down the road for you Big Smile

I laughed out loud when I read that because I have the most adorable image of Bugsy pulling boxes down the road like a pony. Smile

Congrats on the new spread!  It looks amazing, and I'm sure that you and your animals will truly enjoy it.
