    Casey Anthony finally charged, thoughts?

I think it's so sad, but I think they might have a tough time convicting on murder without a body, unless she confesses.

I think it's about time.  Sure everything the public knows seems to be cirucumstatial but geez, that momma murdered her baby girl.  I don't have an ounce of sympathy for her.  She doesn't appear to be the least bit worried her daughter has disappeared, except for being charged with it.  I do feel for her parents/family though; what an awful thing to be going through - morning the (very likely) loss of your granddaughter while trying to protect your daughter.

Sorry folks -- this is HERE in Central Florida.  This whole thing stinks beyond "weird" and EVERYONE stinks in it.  Grandma not the least.  There may not be a 'body' but they do have dna 'evidence' and whatnot from her car (not the least of which was Gram's original call to the cops that she hadn't seen her granddaughter in a month and her daughter's car smelled like "death";)

My concern is that I don't think it was necessarily JUST the daughter because it all stinks to high heaven and I think everyone has postured to appear the least guilty.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone will ever find poor little Caycee alive and I hope like heck she didn't suffer.  But the whole thing is just such a bizare web of lies, half-truths, weird WEIRD behavior, things that just can't be, and things that don't make sense I hope something happens to make someone actually talk.

I have a feeling they have more than enough to make a murder charge stick just from the DNA evidence the police already have.  I think that's what's taken them so long -- I think the police have been trying to build a solid case despite not having the obvious.  It has to be so frustrating for them and I know this type of case is the police's worst nightmare.  Talk about feeling like you can't DO anything.

I totally agree. When you see enough of grandma and her behavior, it's not so hard to understand why the daughter has acted the way she has. I'm the eternal optimist and still hope that the little girl will be found alive, but it's probably wishful thinking Sad

It is indeed bizarre!  I worry about seeing a problem with that car evidence along the lines of the OJ Simpson case.  It was at an impound depot, and that causes alot of chain of custody issues, especially since they were allowed to remove it from there.  I've sat through a few murder cases and it's such a huge undertaking to build those associations that connect Victim A to Murderer B in a way that can stand.  Just the fact that we all are so confused about the conflicting stories, the Grandma's statements and behavior, etc. shows how difficult it would be for a  jury to make that determination.

I do hope they find a way to fry her though!

From what I understand, the Orange County Sheriff's Office has plenty of evidence to build a murder case against her, but most of what's important hasn't been told to the public.

I have my own theories about what happened to this poor little girl - her mother BRAGGED on her MySpace page about using 'Nanny Xanny' (which is apparently where they give their children XANAX (!!!!) so that they'll stay asleep, while the parent goes out and parties the night away!) and I have a feeling she may have given her just a little too much.

I certainly feel for the grandparents, but I don't have one iota of sympathy for the mother.

I KNOW. I didn't even know what it meant, the person who referenced it had to explain it to me.

This is what I'm having trouble with (besides the idea of a mom drugging her child to go party) - just assuming you were *insert descriptive bad word here* enough to do something like that, how could you keep from falling apart when it went bad? She's had a ton of attention and pressure on her and yet she's never broken. That's creepy to me. I can't walk in the house with a straight face and tell my husband I didn't buy anything when I went shopping Confused

That's 'cuz you're not a Sociopath!  Big Smile   It sounds from what I've seen and read that she was never all too thrilled with being a Mom and was competing with her daughter for attention more often than not.  Pretty sad.  At least Susan Smith pretended to be upset and concerned.

Is Susan Smith the one that was suffering from severe post partum depression?  I remember the name but I forgot the details.

No, Susan Smith is the one who left her 2 boys in the car and let it roll into  lake with them strapped in it. I just finished reading the book her husband wrote about it last night.

I have been following this story as well, and I held out hope that they would find her alive, but as more information came to light, the less hope I had.

This is one sick woman. How can anyone, let alone a mother, stand there and say she is conducting her own search with a straight face? As soon as those words came out of her mouth I bet the bull spit meter's went off in a 100 mile radius.

I have no real sympathy for the grandmother, but the grandfather did strike me as seriously conflicted, so did the brother.

    Oooh really?  How was???

Yeah, she was the one who killed them because a guy she was dating broke up with her because he didn't want to deal with kids.  Andrea Yates is the one with post-partem, I really feel for her.  She all but begged her husband not to leave her at home and off to work he went and he'd been warned she should not have more children because of her history of PP psychosis.  That one was heart breaking for everyone concerned, although I really didn't like her husband and his family's response to her illness.  He did stand by her though (although they divorced) and if I remember correctly helped pay for her appeal that got her into a medical facility.

I really felt for her too. We just had a similar case here. Dad left for work and a short while after, the mom call 911 to say she'd just drowned her baby. I'm not sure, but I think the baby has survived. The woman had been treated for psychiatric disorders for years and the husband was fearful, and even asked if she was ok that day for him to go to work. I'm sure he feels horrible.
