Seems like a good idea to me! I don't know that I would actually give money, depending, but I would be more than happy to send cupons or maybe handmade items like collars or a blanket or a handpainted food dish or something for a raffle if it was for a good cause, sort of the way some rescues do.
I belong to another board and when they wanted to raise money they did something like that. They had an auction, the members of the board donated the items to be auctions and paid the shipping, all within the board (not on ebay or anything) and all the proceeds were paid to the person managing the auction, who used them for their intended purpose. I think something like that could be neat.
I'm in the process of starting up a food pantry at my church. I intend to see what I can do to get pet food included in that. The people I'm doing it with aren't really animal loves and probably wouldn't understand, but I WILL push for it. Humans come first of course, but I think it's extremely important that we be benevolent to pups also, especially where there are so few programs out there available for pets in hard times.
