Those are such sweet pictures. I'm very sorry to hear about his passing. Losing a Dad is really hard. At least he got to be part of some very special moments in your life (as shown in your pictures). You will always have those memories to cherish. *hugs*

Oh I am sorry for your loss. I too have lost family (mother) to cancer. It is a horrible disease, your dad is pain free. He will always be with you.

My condolences to you and your family!

Keeping your family in my prayers.  The stories of your father brought him to life for me and they will for Will also.  I am so sorry for the loss.

Chuffy we are sorry for your loss but sure your Dad is in a very special place now!

Those pictures are great and you will remember more and more special moments as time passes.  My Dad has been gone for 23 years now and I am amazed at the special memories that never fade.

Wishing you and your family all the best

Thank you all for your kind words and support.  I have read them through more than once and found a lot of comfort there. There have been very few tears still amongst my brothers and sisters... I wonder if maybe everyone is still in shock and numb and perhaps during or after the funeral a lot of emotion will be released.  I'm not sure.  To my knowledge, Dad never grieved like that when people he loved passed away and he has passed a great deal of his positivity and strength on to us.

There is something I would like to share about my cousin, who has been doing Reiki remotely for Dad.  She is my cousin through my mother's side of the family, and when my mum and dad got a divorce, that part of the family said, "You divorced Gwen; you didn't divorce us!"  They have always thought the world of him.  My cousin went to Dad's bedside at the weekend, held  his hand and sent him some reiki.  She spoke to him in a gentle voice to tell him what she was doing.  She told him she was sending him some reiki and that the angels were stood all around him.  Dad squeezed her hand.   I can only imagine the comfort that must have brought him and it was a beautiful, beautiful thing to say.  I will take her some flowers this week, although I don't think they will even begin to express my thanks.  I will be eternally grateful to her.

Reading that reminded me of something similar. When my dad was very ill and in a nursing home, I was 7 hrs away and couldn't see him as often as I wanted and I was filled with worry. I got a card from a childhood friend and she said that at her church, they take the flowers used during the service to people who are in the hospital or nursing homes and she had taken some to my dad. She said she'd sat and talked to him and he'd smiled. He'd had a stroke and could no longer speak, but it comforted me so much to know that he recognized her and enjoyed her visit. I read her note aloud in the car with my husband and I fell apart. I rarely cry, but it just touched me so deeply. I know you feel the same way and I'm sure your cousin will appreciate knowing that she helped not just your dad, but also you.

Chuffy,,,,thank you for posting the pictures of your Dad, what a great tribute to him..and what a happy fella he must have been that day surrounded by such a large wonderful family.

I am so sorry that you lost him. I'm so sorry that you had to go thru the thing with his wife...but you have to be at  peace knowing he is himself at peace and with no pain or unhappiness.

Some of the others wrote such meaningful things to you....I'm sure we all ditto them.

    Peace!

I am so, so very sorry for the loss of your dad.  I am certain that he is at peace now...you gave him a great gift by being totally supportive of his wishes when it came to his treatment.  I think that is probably was a comfort to pass on with family nearby....

Chuffy, I'm so sorry about the passing of your father. I prayed for him, when I saw the new pictures you posted and I'm sending you my best vibes to comfort you and your family.

That was a very sweet tribute.  I can't tell you how sorry I am that you lost your Dad, the words just seem so inadequate.  Don't worry about when/if/how much you cry.  Everyone grieves their own way.  Tears don't mean you loved him any more.  And I'm certain he knew that you loved him very much.

Chuffy I dont know how I missed your post.   I am so sorry for your loss.  I have kept you and your family in my prayers.  I will continue to pray for you and your family for strength in the coming days and weeks.   The grieving will continue for some time and we will be here for you when you need a pick me up.  As much as you miss your Dad, those that went before him are celebrating his arrival today!
