What was your dog's shelter name?

Our cat's name was Nexus, and still is; it fits her very well. Jessie's name was Cocoa; probably named by the child she had belonged to, who apparently lost interest in her once she grew past the cute puppy stage and was letting her run lose on a busy street. [:@]

    Rosco was Jimmy Dean. Uggg!

Lexi was Pearl, which did not fit for a high energy dog.

Basil was Buddy, which simply would not do.

Patton was "Mulberry" before we got him. He was named it because the vet clinic that was fostering him was the "Mulberry GroveVeterinary Clinic".

I sometimes still slip up and call him Mulberry. He looks at me like I have 3 heads when I do that! lol! Clearly he likes his new name much better. :-)

Kovu only had a # we saw him just after he came in and said we wanted him...so they didn't name him while they waited the 10 days
Btw if anyone hasn't seen lion king 2 that's where I got their names from
Kuruk was Motego first...then the second couple who gave him up named him Kuruk....since we were thinking of a K name anyway and they only had him 2 weeks or so we kept that :)

The pets I currently have either kept their shelter names or were rescues without names.  Joey was a rescue. His name has always been Joey. It just fits him. Miep, my female cat, was 3 weeks old when dropped off at the store I used to work for.  It took us 2 weeks before we came up for a name for her.  She used to "meep"  but now she "mah's."  Oh well, it's a real German name.  Brutis came with the name Brutis from the animal shelter.  He really looks like a Brutis.

I used to have a cat I named Lola.  Her shelter name was Star [:'(]

My mother picks dumb names for her pets.  Her current cats came with the names Whisky and Wine.  She changed it to Mr. Jim Bean and Miss. Bianca White, which has been shortened to Mr. B and Miss B.  Before that she had a beautiful rescued Turkish Angora whos name was Skylar.  She changed it to Guy - again - [:'(]

Miep is also the first name of Miep Gies, the woman who helped hide Anne Frank. [:)] A good name I'd say!

Schmee's furmomma was dropped off at the shelter while she was carrying a litter. [:@] I guess it's better than being born in the street, or by someone who had no idea what was going on...

Because her name was Cookie, they shelter had a "Sweets" theme for the pups. Schmee was originally "Cinnamon" but she is not mellow enough to be a Cinnamon...even the woman at the shelter said, "Her name is Cinnamon, but you can change it...she doesn't look like a Cinnamon to me." [:D]

A funny story... my sis had picked out a new dog from an overcrowded shelter. The paperwork and accompanying photo said the dog's name was "Sara" and my sis happily completed the paperwork and took "Sara" home. Soon after arriving home, "Sara" stopped to pee on a bush... by lifting her leg. A quick check underneath and my sis saw that her new dog "Sara" was indeed a boyl! We still laugh about it to this day. Anyway, back on post... "Sam" was formerly known as "Sara" at the shelter.

Baron, Tyson, and Candy all have the names they came with.

We named Murphy and Duval.  They both had odd hispanic names that I'm not talented enough to pronounce.

Belle was Lightning.  Butch was Butch.   Simon was Simon but the lady who'd been caring for him for the last year wasn't told by the owner what the boys names were so she was calling them Frick and Frack.  I'm not sure which one Simon was.  I'd like to re-name him.

Godzilla's first family named him that because his housemate was a big akita so they figured the little fella (peke-pom mix) needed at big name!!!!

Caity I got before she had a name. Caitlyn.

And Leela was "Bear" at the shelter......for a girl????? A beautiful girl, at that...really...the indignity of it all!
