What was your dog's shelter name?

    Ella's shelter name was Havannah.

Pretty? Maybe. But not for me and Ella is definitely an Ella.

Riley's name was Karl......which leads me to believe that with 30+ pups coming in at once they were desperate for name ideas, lol......

Conrad was Simba. That was his name from his former family (clearly the kids named the dog--the same kids who then lost interest in the dog they wanted so badly, which is how he ended up at the pound).

Marlowe was Bubba because there is some law saying that all hounds taken in by shelters must be given names like Bubba and Cletus and Daisy Mae. Maybe some day I'll learn his original registered name if I ever contact his original breeder.

BTW Boudicea was a British Celtic queen. She led a resistance against the invading Romans.

LOL, that is too funny!  The shelters around here just kinda do a half-hearted attempt at naming the animals...they must just pull out a name book, flip open to a random page, and slap a random name on the critter.  I guess they probably do that everywhere, and that's why it's so funny to see what they come up with [;)]

Well, a dog who we "babysat" for two years while their owner moved to the cayman islands... her name from her previous owner was "Misty" .. the owner who adopted her named her bailey.

Michelle was an owner surrender - her name was Michelle

Milo was a stray and wasn't there long enough to get more than a number. When I requested him he hadn't even gone through his 5 day hold yet.

We didnt change Charlie's name because when we got him he was already 2 years old. I wish they had picked a more creative name tho, it seems every male dog is named Charlie these days :/

Max was called Mookie at the shelter.  He only had that name for the 10 days he was there so he probably wasn't even aware of his name change.  I have no idea what his previous owner called him since he was found with no ID tags. Someone told me that they give them names at the shelter because when their pic goes in the paper as up for adoption, a name gives them a little more personality and makes them seem more adoptable.

Otis was named "Lou" by the rescue.

Mine came from a breeder, but Frosty was Jimminy (she was going to keep him too) and his sister was Cricket. Domino came from a shelter, but he just had a number.

Witt's name was "Chuckie"..it made me think of that movie with the doll..I just couldn't handle that!

Annie's name was "Cheyenne"..We just didn't think it fit her.

Darby's name was "Romeo"...I refuse to stand in my backyard hollering "Romeo!" and have my neighbors thinking I'm desperate.

Max was named Bruno, and Georgie was named Rosie. Millie, who we had before, was named Millie, and Betty, our first dog, was named Betty.
We had a cat once that was named Rage (I wonder why he was having a hard time getting a home) at the shelter. We changed his name to Peanut.

Popcorn's name was originally Tanya...her previous owner named her that, I suppose.  She didn't answer to it, anyway.
