    Brook Cove Ben FDCh: Feb 2, 1996 - Oct 3, 2008

I just wanted to share that Ben's gone.

I had to take him to the vet a couple days ago and today the vet found a hemangiosarcoma (spleen tumor) that had metastasized to his liver.  We said goodbye Ben on this morning with all the family (including his oldest dog sibling Maggie) around.

Ben hasn't been himself for several months.  So there's joy through the tears that "my old Ben" awoke in Tomorrow with all the energy a Border Collie should have (and probably went wandering through the sheep looking for someone to greet).

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes.  I'll share more later but it's a bit hard right now.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I can't imagine your pain right now as I haven't had to go through this with any of mine yet, but I know it must be hard.

    I'm very sorry. (((hugs)))

Run free at the Bridge Ben!

I'm so sorry Becca... I don't post on this kind of topic much because I can never usually think of anything to say (how dumb is that??!!).  But I saw this on the "mourning" thread and wanted to come over to offer my condolences.  Your old siggy pic... was that Ben in the foreground?

This is weird.... I'm tearing up and in shock and I never even met this dog!

    God speed, Ben.

Oh Becca - I'm so sorry.  I'm convinced that Herders have the best time where they're going!!  zillions to "herd" and no buddy to get mad!!

My condolences -- nothing makes this easier.

Oh Becca I am heartbroken with all of you.

Ben I am glad that you are pain free allergy free and doing all that you love to do now!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ben a couple of times - and the last time he kept bringing me this plastic boat and laying it at my feet - with that he stole my heart.  We had a nice game of fetch in which I made sure that I threw the ball where he would have the best chance of beating young Ted to get.

Fantastic dog - really - fantastic.

Tears of sadness and tears of joy that he is ill no more - and tears cuz he was so sweet

Oh, Becca... I am so sorry for your loss.  Ben has left such a legacy with you, and you have shared some of that with us.  He will be in our thoughts and your stories of him will be in our minds, fondly recalled, whenever we need him.  My heart goes out to you and yours who love and will miss him.

Peace be with you and Ben.  Run free, beautiful Ben!

Becca, please accept my condolences.  Wow, I just don't know what else to say that isn't trite.  Herd free & fast, Mr. Ben!

Oh, Becca, this made me so sad to read, but I will bet you that Dancer headed his way as soon he got there to welcome him and help him wait.  If you see a hawk overhead really soon, don't be surprised;-))

So sorry, Becca.  I know there really isn't anything I can say that will ease your pain but you and Ben are in my heart.
