VP debate...who did she think she was winking at?

My, my, wasn't THAT a funny link that completely trivialized all thoughts and feelings of women?? LOL j/k j/k

I completely agree and I thought she did fantastic. I wasn't hoping for a train wreck, so I wasn't disappointed. Stick out tongue

Isn't it sad that so many people watched because of this?  They wanted to see her fall on her face, or Biden say something incredibly stupid.  That's no reason to watch a debate of potential vice presidents!!  But, that's what the media kept saying people wanted to see.

Just read that this was the most watched debate (VP or presidential) since 1992.  Wow!

she openly refused to answer the moderator's questions.  That's not debating!!  That's her sticking to a script from which she could not deviate because she didn't have answers to the posed questions...

I agree!  And while she didn't fall on her face, she obviously didn't do her homework as far as being up on voting records.  Biden knew a lot more about McCain's voting record than she did about Obama's, or McCain's either for that matter. The "after debate" polls seemed to show Biden taking a much bigger jump in approval ratings than she did. I think people are finally beginning to give some serious thought to the fact that if McCain doesn't survive, SP will be president. *shudders, and seriously considers looking for a small house across the border in Canada*

From the article that was linked:

Here's why Palin doesn't make the grade:

    1. She's too pretty.

    2. She's too confident.

    3. She could embarrass us.

See my dislike of her has nothing to do with her being a confident, pretty woman. I think that it is a good thing that she is pretty. She is well put together and her look is professional. What she doesn't have going for her though, with respect to her looks, is her attitude. Her attitude is NOT sincere in any way. It is so obvious that she is scripted and playing to the "commoners". It's completely in conflict with how she looks and so her entire persona looks fake.

I want a woman in office. If she were on the democrats side, (and wasn't such a conservative) I'd be very happy to be voting for her. I also want someone with a different ethnic back ground in office - whether it be black, asian, mexican american, whatever. This country needs a non-white male in the President or VP position. It's way past time for it. It's just too bad that the first woman to get so close has attached herself to a sinking ship.

Don't think so.  In fact, he outright lied about it.  See factcheck.org's article about the debate.

I think a lot of people have that gut instinct, too. Perhaps she is/was a different person outside of this national stage, prior to her selection as VP running mate.  I also agree that it's DEF in her favor that she is attractive and confident.  I think she has done a very good job getting herself up to speed to try to compete at the level she's found herself.  (Not that she really is there yet...) Imagine the shock of getting THAT phone call that you're being considered as a running mate for VP.  She's learned/learning fast... which perhaps would carry with her into the role she could potentially have as VP.  Maybe she could be a good VP with time.

But her values, priorities, and beliefs are in stark, nearly absolute contrast to many of mine... for that reason I cannot vote for her.

I missed the Obama/McCain debate and all of the interviews Palin has done up to the VP debate so I was really interested in seeing what Biden/Palin had to say.  The vibe I got when all was said - she seems in WAY over her head.  She wants to believe that Washington DC can be like Wassila and the fact of the matter is, those politians are going to eat her for lunch.  I don't doubt that she's tough but she's tough in a very folksie way, as she likes to keep pointing out.  To compare her time as Mayor of Wassila or even Govenor of Alaska to being VP OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is to me a little nieve.  She kept dodging questions and that bothered me; made her seem ill informed.  And I was laughing about how she kept throwing out the name of a specific leader in the middle east (sorry, can't think of his name or the country he's from but it's hard to pronounce and she seemed proud she could).  Kudos for an ex-news anchor.

In my mind, Biden was in his element and seemed knowledgeable and answered what was put to him.  Of course I've all but made up my mind to vote Obama so that probably colors my take on the VPs too.

She was referring to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran.

And she mispronounced his name each time she said it.  Just like McCain, she says it as Akmadinejad.  The correct pronounciation according to all the sites I've found is Ahmadinejad (pronounced as ah-mah-DIH-nee-zhahd or ah-ma-deen-ah-zhad).  No "k" sound anywhere in it.

And don't get me started on how she says "nuclear" . . . .

EXACTLY.  which is why it's so... alarming... to some of us who remember that G.W.B. won a 2nd term by being "everyone's good buddy".....  I mean no disrespect to political views different than my own, but we have BEEN there, done that.  I am an intelligent woman and I don't want my country nor my gender represented that way.

Well why didn't she correct him then?

I expect that's due to it not being in the cram notes, lol.

I personally find the "folksy"  thing irritating and insulting to women.  I cannot related to the "joe six pack, doggone you betcha" reference at all as my husband and I are intelligent, well-educated professionals that speak proper English and  know how to pronounce the word nuclear (unlike the other disaster who's in office right now).  This woman does not represent me whatsoever.

It also boggles my mind that there are people claiming she won the debate.  How on earth do you win a debate if you haven't answered the questions?   I guess it's hard to come up with an answer when you are not given enough time to find a fitting scripted speech in your stack of notecards.   Our standards as a country have reached an all-time low.

know how to pronounce the word nuclear

Am I the only who noticed that Sarah ALSO pronounced it NuCULAR?!  She did in her first national TV interview, and again in the debate!!  It was like nails on a chalkboard.  Yes, def too close to George W...

He fulfilled all his objectives--no gaffes

I beg to differ.  However, the MSM is going to give him a pass on this one, just like they did when he said FDR went on television in 1929 (look it up if you don't understand).  Last night he said that Article I of the Constitution addresses the duties of the executive branch.  Well, Joe, sorry.  Article I is about the legislative branch.

You are right that Article 1 of the Constitution deals with the legislative branch.  However, I believe what Biden was referring to was the role of the VP in the Senate, which is covered under Clause 4 of Article 1.
