My Rocky is driving me crazy. I have been free feeding the cats forever. I'm going to have to change that now due to Rocky's behavior. I wish I could catch him in the act when I have a camera handy, because it is kind of funny. Unfortunately, when I catch him and go get the camera, he stops, of course.
He has this bad habit of sitting in front of the feeder licking his paw and touching the kibble to get the crumbies. Then, he sits there and enjoys the crumbies (dusty crumbies, you know what I mean). During this process he is in inadvertantly (?) spilling the food out on the floor. I can't tell you how many times I'll walk by the feeder and there is literally 2 cups worth of food on the floor next to the feeder.
So, I've decided to stop the free feeding and start them on a schedule (like the dogs). Its going to be a big shift for them. I thought what I'd do is fill bowls in the morning, leave them out for a couple of hours. After that time, pull them up. Then do the same thing in the evening. Then eventually, shorten that time span to 1/2 hour.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
